I think it's a 37 hour week on average. Sundays are in the working week for Depot Drivers at EMT (35 hours with Sundays outside for Main Line drivers).

From memory there are two morning turns of duty, one afternoon, and about eight night turns. So mostly nights, yes.
Whilst there is no right to progress to a Mainline Driver, you can apply later and each person would be assessed on their merits. Quite a few Depot Drivers have progressed.

From what I can gather the progression opportunity is there if it presents itself. But if I was hiring I'd be wanting someone who wanted to be a depot driver, not who wanted to use it as a stepping stone to work on the mainline potentially at another TOC after they've invested in you.

Good opportunity for someone though, be interested how many actually apply

I think it was 2010 when the grade of Depot Driver was introduced at Derby Etches Park and Nottingham Eastcroft. I think the first to progress to Main Line driver was in 2012 and went to St Pancras. I've heard a rumour he has recently been offered a job with Eurostar?!

There have been a few others progress over the years, but there are some who are still Depot Drivers.

As I said earlier, you don't have an automatic right to progress. If you apply to go from Depot Driver to Mainline Driver, you will compete against all other applicants (I.e. it won't be an automatic promotion based on seniority), and your 'Safety of the line' record, experience, attitude, attendance, and interview etc. will all be taken into account along with all the other applicants when the company make a decision over who gets to progress to Mainline Driver when a vacancy arises.

They require an enhanced pass, all passes are considered valid by them for 2 years.

No dfft, but the dmi is very hard, much harder than the mmi in my opinion, I'm told most people fail it as I did. Annoying since I found the application form fairly straight forward.

Its simple really, people usually fail because they did not comprehensively invest into their potential employer as a company and what they represent and the job role.

reference the application form I notice that a CV is not highlighted as compulsory unlike the 6 questions ,would I be right in thinking as there is no part of the application for your personal details e,g, past careers ,achievements etc that you need to attach one (sorry if I answered my own question).
