8pm sounds good to me! Good to get some hellos in instead of awkward silences Monday morning!

Contract arrived today too.

I'm travelling from Kettering (Midlands)

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I'm travelling from Barnsley if anyone on my route needs a lift or anyone wants to car share.

2 pensions?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it saysyou will be invited to join either the company shared cost section of the railways pension scheme or the IWDC ( industry wide defined contribution scheme ) , the company's auto enrolment pension scheme
?

Any advice would be appreciated

So are the new trainees not been offered a defined benefit final salary pension with freightliner now?

I remember reading about it but not clocking that there'd be two schemes.

I'm sure we'll get a pamphlet or two about each and be able to judge which'll be the best of the two pension offers for our personal circumstances.

I was hoping it'd be the usual Railway Pension Scheme as I'm currently in at Cross Country unless they're run by them but a different style of policy???

On a plus side, if anyone is in the railway industry currently and a member of the Railway Enginemens Assurance (salary sacrifice savings), then Freightliner honour these policies and they can be continued. Already lined my 8 policies up to swap over for Feb!

for anyone that's not heard or known about them, check out www.enginemens.co.uk as they're well worth it!

Looks like heavy haul have done away with the defined final salary pension scheme then for new starters. Doesnt surprise me. It ain't good as the final salary is a cracking pension for a driver that can't be matched really.

The final salary pension scheme is still available. You contribute 10% and the company contributes 16%

If you choose not to enter the final salary scheme you'll be auto enrolled into the government scheme that they have to offer now by law.

Take the final salary scheme, it's good.

Hi guys and girls, sorry to grate crash but just wondering from when you applied for the job and when it closed how much after did you hear whether you were successful or unsuccessful? Just asking because we a lot of people applied back last year and we haven't heard anything yet, I know it takes ages but I was wondering just how long. Thanks

I applied early June I think, it was before Download Festival anyway. Heard back late June or early July I think for the first round of testing

If your talking about the heavy haul vacancies it said in the advert if you hadn't heard by a date in August you had been unsuccessful

Hey guys/girls. Quick question, I was unsuccessful at getting though the opc interview in Watford passed everything else mind you. Anyway well done to the ones who got through but just wondering if anyone could share what they said to get though? As feedback from opc wasn't very useful. Also how many of the guys who got though all this have already worked on or are previously off the railway, because the opc advice was think railway but as some who hasn't worked on it in any form I find that difficult? Cheers two-wheeler.

I'm in the same boat a you two-wheeler, I assume in the feedback you had from the opc they told you which question you had failed?

Its a pain isn't it. Yeah they told me which but would not extend any more on that. Just said think railways was all I got. So hence seeing if any of the guys on here who passed could help. Cheers.

Hi guys/gals,

Received an email yesterday invited for an interview for the jobs advertised in November (closing date 13/12/13). Is this different to the usual way? I understood it that I had to take assessments first before interview? Thanks hardy

Is it a depot manager interview?, some of the other tocs do these first before they put you through the assessments. With the heavy haul vacancies the assessments were done first though. Did you apply for Eastleigh or Leeds or Both?
