Thank you. Yes, that was the intention, I do try to use prototypical formations where doable, particularly from tours I've been on myself. And that was a good tour that will long live in the memory

That’s excellent. If I wasn’t so into my model railways I’d definitely get into that. It would have completely blown my tiny mind as a teenager!

It is good fun, particularly useful in these lockdown times! It makes me feel like I'm getting out and about, even though I'm not.

Sorry, I should probably have said! It’s The Port Road/Western Lines of Scotland- Carlisle to Stranraer.

Virgin Class 390 Pendolino, somewhere near Birmingham.


First Capital Connect Class 313 on the Northern City Line.


Chiltern Railways Class 168 168216 at Birmingham Moor Street with a service to London Marylebone.

I enjoyed doing some shunting in the Huddersfield area earlier on Train Sim World using the 08. I had to collect two carriages from the back of a train from Sheffield.


A crowd gathered to watch my coupling abilities;


Hope this lot don't mind a night in the sidings, unless they are Branchline Society members?

I've been having some class 31 fun today;

I tried my hand at some American Railroading earlier on the Sand Patch Grade. It's a bit slow for my liking but it was nice to try something different;

I'm not massively into units or even third rail stuff but I really enjoyed a spin with the below unit on the East Coastway. The combined power handle works really well with the keyboard controls so it was great beating the timetable for a change!

I've been playing around with TS recently, driving all sorts. I've also found that I'm sticking with the trains for much longer than I used to - I'd normally get a few stations in and then lose interest!

Here are some of my screenshots (all from Quick Drives):


South West Trains Class 421 1889 is seen somewhere on the Portsmouth Direct Line, on its way to London Waterloo with a service from the south.


Virgin Class 43 43067 is seen rounding a bend somewhere on the Riviera Line, between Exeter and Dawlish.


Chiltern Railways Class 68 68010 Oxford Flyer is seen at Banbury with a service to Birmingham Moor Street.


British Railways 103/502 Flying Scotsman can be seen on a 12-coach service from London to York from Alexandra Palace. From the Cambridge Line available on UKTrainSim.


A Great Western Railway Class 802 is seen at Oxford with a service from London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill.

^ Class 170 115 in CrossCountry livery is lost on the Riviera Line heading to Paignton from Nottingham. (Fictional quick drive scenario)

When you can't get out on the real railway, TSW is definitely the next best thing. A few from a run on the Tees Valley this morning;

Maybe not the most artistic screenshot ever, but I think this one on the West Somerset Railway looks really realistic, especially with the people crowding under the shelter to avoid the rain;

Celebrating the new found freedom to run what you want where you want in TSW2. Just need some suitable carriages to arrive. Hopefully they will when Northern Transpennine is re-released

Some higher speed railtour action. A class 47 in the summer haze near Redcar and a Class 52 on the Brighton mainline. Finally possible to run the 52 at speed now thanks to the Preserved Collection.

I tend to flip-flop between model railways and Train Sim, and recently I've been getting really into TS again; I'm currently doing a massive re-install (first one in five years of playing the game), so I won't be able to play it for a while, but I should be able to this time next week.


7903 'Foremarke Hall' is seen at Cheltenham Race Course station, GWSR, after having run around its train. This is a scenario I put together of the GWSR's first post-lockdown 1 service.


Bouncing Bubbles! 121020 and 121034 bounce their way along the Princes Risborough - Aylesbury Line. From a scenario pack I made covering their last day in service.


@Cowley may be interested to see this one - that time D1015 (admittedly in the wrong livery here) dragged a FGW HST into Swindon!


I'll admit, I can't remember what this was about exactly, but I think it's supposed to be the GBRf 50 pair hauling a Class 769 to Reading. I've only got the DTG MML 319 and don't have a GWR 769 reskin so this had to do!


And finally, another odd service! This was one of the LNER Class 91 moves to Neville Hill for refurbishment and I thought it would be cool to drive in TS. I made this scenario a few days ago and still need to finish it (putting messages in, adding AI, and generally tidying it up a bit).
