Does anyone know why there isn't a 004 or 005?
The units are converted from former Class 319s, keeping the same 3-digit unit no. E.g. 769008 was 319008.Does anyone know why there isn't a 004 or 005?

319004 was scrapped earlier this year, and 319005 is in service with London Northwestern Railway.
They've been using the bells since day one (or at least you can hear them in those early videos).Saw a video on YouTube today with 008 and 002 where they were using dispatch bells. Have they moved onto Guard training?
Not noticed it before. There's me getting my hopes upThey've been using the bells since day one (or at least you can hear them in those early videos).
I wouldn't worry too much - there aren't that many guards to train at Rhymney and it shouldn't be an especially long course, even with Covid to deal with. Not noticed it before. There's me getting my hopes up
Will they be doing the doors from the passenger saloons? I can't remember if the 319s have a proper door control panel in the cabs other than on the driver's desk
The LNR ones are worked from the cabs but I don't know if that is a retrofit?
The unit that faulted this morning was 769006 not 008
We will see what happens next weekWell that's promosing. But let's not get carried away just yet!
Rumour mill locally is that 1or maybe 2 class 769s will be entering public service next week. Chsnges been made to the timetable with some of the Rhymney to Bridgend services split at Cardiff central.
The other 2 769s will continue to be used for testing and staff training
There are currently changes being made to the Timetable but not yet complete. 0714 ex Rhymney is terminating at Cardiff Central and a fresh train to Bridgend for starters so watch this space.
No controls in the cabs all in the saloons
Surprised by this, doesn't seem like a very safe method of working if the train is very busy
Not ideal during a pandemic. In what way isn't it safe? (It is probably inconvenient though if you have to keep squashing past crowds to get to the panel).
