I was doing a bit of research about Pemberton and was surprised to see a picture of a large station building where a recent cul-de-sac is now.

Out of our currently open crop of stations, which have ALWAYS been unstaffed?

Can I be cheeky and nominate Cranbrook and Newcourt stations? They do fulfil your criteria - they're currently open stations, and they've always been unstaffed. (Even if they've not been open for that long in the grand scheme of things!)

Haha, yes okay!

If a station has re-opened unstaffed and remains so, but was staffed historically before being closed- does it qualify? If so, most new/reopened stations could appear on this list.

One round here I can think of that has ALWAYS been unstaffed is Glasshoughton.

Dilton Marsh. Aside from those that have reopened in modern times, serve heavy industrial sites or are literally wayside halts (Dilton Marsh, Sugar Loaf, probably Berney Arms etc) I doubt there are many.

In the South East (as far as I know)..
Swale
Three Oaks
Doleham
Longcross.?
Lake (Isle of Wight)

Do you include station platforms unmanned but tickets issued from adjacent signal box/crossing box (all of which are now closed !) such as..
Southease
Normans Bay
Faygate
and pre 1997 Waddon Marsh and Beddington Lane

Almost any ex-GWR "halt" will not have been staffed in the "olden days"

Appleford, Combe and Finstock
Chetnole and Thornford Bridge
Dockyard
the Looe branch halts
possibly some in the Cardiff Valleys?
Lamphey?
the surviving Cambrian Coast halts (Llanaber and northward).

Not sure about other SR "halts" (steamybrian has listed some) - there's others like along the south coast like Pevensey Bay, Aldrington, Fishersgate, East Worthing, Fishbourne, Southbourne, Nutbourne, Bedhampton, Hilsea - and Holton Heath? - plus Polsloe Bridge and St James' Park. I think some of these may have been staffed at some time (or may be now, it's a long way from here!)

Willington and Matlock Bath; both closed and then reopened.

All of the current stations along the S & C with the exception of Settle and Appleby.

I'll be strict and say no to this.

I'll say yes to this. Interesting way to 'man' a station though.

Bedhampton is still staffed part time, and Hilsea was only made unstaffed relatively recently. (Post-privatisation.)

Livingston North, Livingston south, Wester Hailes, Wallyford, Musselburgh, Bermuda Park, Coventry Arena, Glasshoughton, Crossflatts and MetroCentre are all "new" stations that haven't been re-opened from being previously closed and were built unstaffed.

Southbourne is still staffed (as far as known)
Polsloe Bridge was staffed (many years ago)

Godley and Flowery Field I don't think have every been staffed.

Edinburgh Park and South Gyle also opened unstaffed but I am not sure about the current status of Edinburgh Park.

Its still the United Kingdom so Mosley West I think was opened unstaffed.

Edinburgh Park has a 'mobile' staff presence and ticket gates. It does not have a ticket office... but the staff are there for most of the time trains operate as far as I am aware... so staffed (part time) sounds the sensible description to me.

James Cook
Energlyn & Churchill Park
Apperley Bridge
Kirkstall Forge
Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway
Brunstane
Newcraighall
Shawfair
Eskbank?
Ebbw Vale Town?
Gartcosh?
Kelvindale?
Pye Corner
Llanharan

Watford North? Garston I think only opened after pay train concept and never had staff based at that location.

The former Apperley Bridge and Rawdon station was staffed, and Apperley Bridge (2016) is the successor, albeit not on the same site. Kirkstall Forge is the same, I'd argue. Glasshoughton and Crossflatts were entirely new stations where none had existed previously.

Was the original Deighton station (on the Midland Railway's Kirkburton branch) staffed? I'd expect it was, as most were back then, but if it wasn't then the current Deighton station would qualify.

Thought of another: East Garforth.

Between the parallel lines
Kempston Hardwick was destaffed in 1968

Apsley Guise still had a crossing keeper until 2004 but the following web site illustrates BR tickets issued from it..
http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/a/aspley_guise/

Thought I might need to be corrected about Kempston Hardwick - couldn't quite remember. Not sure if a crossing keeper at Apsley Guise counts as station staff (in a way it is a rather different job, and certainly not counted as the same thing on my patch nowadays) but if they issued tickets too, then that blurs the boundaries!

The original Victorian station at Marlow was demolished in 1967 or 1968 and replaced by an unstaffed platform on a new site, the original station area eventually becoming an industrial park after a limited period as a sawmill.

I don't think these have been said - the new Ivybridge station, Digby and Sowton and you could say Lympstone Commando?
