With regards to density, the cross city line from Lichfield City to Longbridge covers 19 stations an hour.

I agree with the B&H. I think the only stations which can handle a full HST between westbury and reading is Newbury and maybe Pewsey.

On the FGW HST station stops card (displayed on the sides of the train), it lists Westbury as having short platforms, but if the driver is careful when using platform 3, all doors can fit with the exception of the rear power car which hangs off the end of the platform.

I imagine "The Weymouth Wizard" (when it ran in summer) must've used a lot of SDO. Bristol Temple Meads, Keynsham (possibly), Bath Spa, Westbury and Weymouth would have been okay, I'm not too sure about the stations between Frome and Upwey...

...or how long would it take to travel the route of the train with most stops by getting off at each one consecutively and continuing the journey by the following train.
Just think about the Far North line. If I got the timings right, leaving Wick this morning you wouldn't get to Inverness until the fourth of April!

The station call card for the Paddington to Bristol service via Newbury and Trowbridge makes for good reading. Only reading, Newbury, bath and Bristol can take the full length. Smallest must be tiny kinbury and Trowbridge (front 3 only)

Poor first class passengers having to walk passed the mob in standard class.

Mmm, I think they should look at lengthening Trowbridge and Bradford-On-Avon's platforms in the future. You can literally just about squeeze a 5 car 15x on these platforms (these operate to and from Weymouth in the summer) although it is very tight... Realistically you could lengthen both platforms at BOA and platform 2 at Trow, but platform 1 might be a bit more difficult as there is a gate providing access to the track where the platform would be extended, followed by bridges. Trowbridge has the highest amount of entries and exits of the stations between Bath Spa and Salisbury (though Westbury will have more people changing trains.) Hopefully after electrification elsewhere, train capacity can be improved on this line than the current 3-car 158s.
