Hello all

I plan to take the 06:59 Luton to Sheffield service (arriving 09:04) using an advance ticket. Using a separate advance ticket, I then plan to take the 09:11 Sheffield - Manchester Piccadilly service. Unfortunately it's not possible to book through all the way from Luton to Manchester Piccadilly on these services.

My question though is that if the 06:59 Luton to Sheffield service was sufficiently late to make me miss the Manchester train, would I be able to take the following TPE service? Bear in mind that the minimum connection time at Sheffield is 7 minutes so the original plan is a valid connection.

Thanks in advance.

If it is a valid connection then yes. See Question 4 here.

Many thanks for the replies.

'Mr Spock', I forgot to point out that I'd like to travel First Class between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly as the fares are very reasonable. Sadly it's not possible to get a first class ticket all the way with 2 people though it is with just 1 :?.

Was wondering if anyone would spot that!

Still, next time someone asks about the minimum connection time at Sheffield, I'll remember 7 minutes.

However.... The first train could arrive at 09:04.29 and be recorded as 09:04 and the second train (09:11) will start dispatch procedures at 09:10.30 - you can just imagine the letter from EMT now

The minimum suggested connection time refers to the timetabled arrival and departure times, it would be impossible to plan a journey eight weeks before travel based on actual arrival and departure times.
