Pacers to Paris?

Actually not that far fetched. In 1986 there were plans for a Hastings unit to work a tour to Paris via the Dover - Calais train ferry, which SNCF were happy to accept. Unfortunately BR declined the idea.

Whatever it is, it now clashes with a BLS main line tour, which according to the latest Branch Line News, will cover 3 depots, full details in the next issue in 2 weeks time.

Imagine if the BLS have a tour over rare lines and this tour also goes over rare lines. You can see some BLS members having to decide which one to do.

Hopefully details will be announced so that anybody wanting to attend the railtour can book hotel rooms (if required) and be in a position to book advance fares if required.

Because the BLS have announced a tour on that date in Branch Line News (as I said in my previous post!).

Only new tour added is a Forgotten Tracks tour around the Goole & Hull area on the 14th November.

I'm hoping it won't be anything big which I need as I'm in Glasgow that weekend, going up on the sleeper friday night.

Can anyone remember the approximate start and finish time of the last Javelin rail tour? I'd assume that this one will start and end at St Pancras

The previous 395 Tour left about 8.30am and was back after 18.00pm

the train starts at victoria 08:30 and ends at canon Street including a visit to Eastbourne.
It does not travel on HS1 at all.

Interesting the number of loops and sidings it will traverse. Most notable are the Folkstone East sidings and the Tonbridge down Post Office loop. Must be ages since the latter was used.
