I seem to recall that I caught a GNER train from Darlington to Leeds back in October '02, and that was a Eurostar branded 373 as well. :)
I don't think the Eurostars ever worked north of York. Also GNER don't run many direct trains from Darlington to Leeds (there used to be one in the evening that ran via Doncaster as it was usually a 91).

From memory, the GNER White Rose operated between London Kings Cross and Leeds, Monday to Friday
However, on a Saturday there was a single diagram between London Kings Cross and York, on a Saturday, which then returned ECS to Leeds

When the White Rose services first started they all ran to York before being transfered onto Leeds services.

Not sure of details but I think there's a Southern Victoria to Southampton train that regularly goes from Fareham to Eastleigh, drivers change ends and the train goes on the direct route to Southampton, rather than via the normal Swanwick/Hamble route. Arrives in Eastleigh sometime after 22:00. I understand this is for route training for when the normal Swanwick/Hamble route is closed.

There is one Southern service from Southampton which goes via Eastleigh to Fareham with a reverse at Eastleigh. This is the 22:06 from Southampton M-F.

The first time I used this train I was slightly worried that we appeared to be going the wrong way. I have since travelled on this service many times and not once has any PA announcement been made to reassure passengers.

N.B. Doors are not released at Eastleigh.

All other Southern services between Southampton and Fareham, in either direction, call at Swanwick - hence using the more usual route.

That'll be because it's booked as a PASS (departure at 2227 is booked).

And as from December - Southern will be the primary operator at Swanwick.

Yes, just the one - at 06:02
Which is quite an odd one - as it's the only one to go via Horsham.

and also the only one not to stop at Gatwick?

Southern will be the primary operator at Swanwick.

Interesting that...having been my local station for 15 years. Will the diesels under whatever branding it is these days still stop, and what about the SWT Southampton-Portsmouths?

I gather that this week that the TWThFO 0042 Waterloo-Strawbery Hill via Wimbledon uses Clapham Junction P6 because of overnight engineering, and the 2110 Weymouth-Waterloo uses Clapham J P4, arriving 0059, with a Waterloo arrival at 0109. How does that relate to using the Point Pleasant Jn to Wimbledon route?

If it uses platform 4 then it will likely use Point Pleasant - and booked route is indeed Point Pleasant.

Wimbledon 0046
Wimbledon Pk PASS 0048
East Putney PASS 0054
Pt Pleasant PASS 0056
Clapham Jn 0059

Worth note that also the 21.22 Portsmouth HBR-Westbury and 19.30 Cardiff-Portsmouth also go via Eastleigh. NB: Pass doors not relesed at Eastlegh

Nope, not to turn trains, it's for NR to be able to take up possesion on Netley if need be

Which SWT services (passenger) go via the Test Valley route to Romsey as against via Eastleigh? I saw a 2-car DMU the other day heading towards Romsey from Redbridge Junction.

I reckon the SW-NW XC trains use the indirect route into New Street not to avoid reversing, but to relieve congestion on the University track.

For a while, the first XC passenger service from Edinburgh to Dundee has run non-stop between Inverkeithing and Markinch. And there's a similar reverse working with the late Aberdeen to Edinburgh XC. Why on earth don't they call at Dunfermline?

Note notable, but worth keeping your eye open for. If there is disruption between Doncaster and Kirk Sandall, it's not unknown for TPE to divert via Adwick and enter Doncaster from the Leeds line. (Jordy knows about this).

Indeed, its quite a slow route and does cause some delays, but interesting all the same :)

Don't no where you get that from, but I've naver had a late MML service.

Also, MML tonight were being diverted from Derby, and going past Toton and up the Erewash lines and not calling at Chesterfield.

If you live in Kettering, some would argue that a last running train is the least of your problems.

There is one train a day (Mon-Fri, or something like that), that goes from Waterloo to Brighton (One Way Only) via Basingstoke! 0630 or thereabouts I think.

Also some Gatwick Express trains are run via the line by Stewarts Lane, that comes up by Battersea Power Station, which makes a change, and confuses some of the regular travellers!!!
