I understand that a vehicle has recently been hit by a train in the Thatcham area. This has originally been reported to the public as both a person hit by a train and an obstruction on the line. I have no information about the severity of the incident, but I understand that several police and ambulance crews are attending. This sounds very unfortunate, and I hope nobody was injured or killed. EDIT: One person has sadly been confirmed deceased.
NRE says:
This is in addition to the congestion caused by the earlier cable theft between Bristol TM and Taunton, as well as the sad incident in which a person was hit by a train in the Bristol Parkway area.
EDIT 2: The vehicle involved is believed to have been a motorcycle and the incident is thought to have occurred at Ufton Nervet crossing (again! ).
