I'm travelling first class on the 0720 from New Street to Preston on a friday morning, what are the offerings at this time of day? A breakfast would be nice
You will be traveling on a 221 voyager, so you won't get a cooked breakfast.
More likely a Bacon Roll or Egg Pannini thing.
Not traveled on them for a while. Our resident 1st Class Traveller All Line Rover should be able to tell you
If I remember correctly, that train might be a Pendolino as there are one or two morning Pendolinos from Birmingham to Scotland. Someone such as AlterEgo may be able to confirm.
I got a Voyager from Rugby earlier. Despite it being a Pendo, there is no chef on board so you'll get the Voyager offering which should be either a mini Grill, salmon tart or porridge. Avoid the latter 2 at all costs, they're awful! If the host is up to the job, you should also get a croissant otherwise ask for one!
Anyone know the odds of getting breakfast between EUS and MKC on a Birmingham terminator?
Almost nil, just tea and coffee between EUS and MKC.
Completely nil, as food is only served after Milton Keynes (and vice versa).
This largely depends on the crew. I was on the 08:43 to Birmingham this week. The host came around asking where we were travelling to before taking breakfast orders. I received and had finished my Grill just as we were passing Bletchley (and could have finished it earlier as I was in coach G). A dishonest customer for MKC could well say they are going further in order to get a breakfast and make a swift exit at MKC!
It's reasonable not to expect a breakfast, especially given the FOS is roughly half the price of the Manchester one when compared by distance or time (£24 for 30mins/50miles vs £199.50 for 120mins/200miles), but I am surprised that you don't even get a bacon sandwich, or even toast, or even a croissant.
Likewise on the return journey: at best a coffee, cake and glass of wine; at worst nothing, I assume.
Ah. You don't by any chance catch the 0643 or 0743 off Euston?
Have you ever got on a peak service at Milton Keynes? The 0652 to Euston, for example, has about 50-60 First Class passengers joining at MKC. It would be impossible to provide a service.
You sat in Coach K? I don't know if that's brave or stupid...
Good to see that you got a bit of food in at least.
I'm travelling 1st class for the 1st time on thursday. I'm on the 1810 from euston to nuneaton. Am I likely to get a feed, journey is just about an hour
Yes, a free dinner - beef casserole.
Excellent pun, by the way.
Sorry to go OT, but how is that a pun?
Is he referring to all the ones....
1st class 1st Time Thursday 1st December Journey 1 hour ?
Sorry to go OT, but how is that a pun?
