Hello all, I recently applied for a job as a CSA with Virgin Trains.

I had my day assessment / Interview and received an email back a few days later saying I had impressed them and will be put into the talent pool.

Does anyone have any information on the talent pool? And how long i can be waiting?

If you can help, Please get back to me

Thanks guys

Rick.

I'm in a talent pool for northern, have been since March. I'm assuming virgin work the same. Depends how many people are in the pool and how many courses virgin are running. Just phone virgins HR dept and ask. Don't get too disheartened people are often sat in a pool first before receiving job offer.

Most TOC's work the same, good luck !

My gf had the same email, and is also in talent pool. It all goes off what position you are in the talent pool, what depot you are waiting on, and when a vacancy arises. There is no fixed time limit really. Could be this month, could be 6 months or longer.

What depot are you waiting for ?

I applied for London Euston! I applied for the CSA position that was advertised and have been put in the talent pool.
The roles they had were various from CSA at forms to inboard / revenue.

Sounds good at least just waiting hopefully now! :)

Fingers crossed

I was put in a talent pool back in March. Still no joy :( I've not been able to get hold of anyone from the recruitment team yet to find out any information on my position in the pool. Just got to sit tight and keep my fingers crossed! :)

A talent pool as they so quaintly describe it is where people who managed to "impress" the company but didn't impress them as much as the people who got the job, in my experience when the next jobs are advertised the same could happen again, when you take the tests and have the interviews you are graded (marked) and for arguments sake lets say the maximum is 100 and lets say that they needed 5 people, the top 5 marks would get the jobs with the ones just under going into a talent pool so if the top 5 people scored 80 and above and you got say 78 you would be close but not close enough for the job.

When they advertise again your scores will already be noted but if they need another 5 people and they get more than your mark, lets say 79 and above you still will not get the job although you have been waiting for a long while. This is why you see many people in talent pools and the role is re-advertised and the people in the talent pools do even get contacted.
