Morning ladies and gents, just checked the systems on the off chance and they're there for at least some Saturdays.

I just bought me an £8.25 single each way for the 8.49 off Wolves to Newquay as far as Exeter, and the 12.23? from Exeter to Newcastle as far as New Street.

I recall the 26th of May being the first day of them, then a break taken until July. Then they ought to be on every Saturday until early September.

Yeah the times say those dates as it runs for the duration of the summer timetable, it doesnt however mean its a HST on all those dates.

First two weeks are HST then a spell of Voyagers until peak summer, not sure how long this is. Last week (8/9) is normally Voyager aswell.

As far as I know both GNER sets will come down Friday night - GNER certainly cannot spare a HST set to be dumped on Laira for 6 days! If they could, they wouldn't have taken an extra 2 sets on lease.

Important note for anyone who skimms that lot...The MAN - NQY run is via Alsager on the 26th of May. Anyone wishing to cover this route, I would recommend doing so on that run. A HST from Crewe to Stoke-on-Trent and onwards to Brum via Stafford is not too common these days!

Since I found that out yesterday, I am now changing the plan for the 26th of May to be in Crewe off the last service of the day from Hereford, with a fairly long overnight move somewhere there and getting the HST from Crewe down to Cheltenham Spa or Bristol Parkway. This depends on cheap tickets being available, and if the right tickets at the right price are available, I'll do the run straight through to Newquay and back then to Bristol, then unit to Newport and unit to Hereford for bus home!

Crewe - Newquay, First Class AP fare, £25.20. BARGAIN!

Newquay - Bristol Temple Meads (cheap tickets not available to Hereford, will buy on-day there), Standard Class AP fare, £6.25. BARGAIN!

Those were booked, followed by a bit of a bellow and flail!

Yes 16:25 Plymouth to York from 8th July. 27th May and 3rd June its a hour earlier at 15:25 as goes via Newport but by Cheltenham will be in the same timings as the 16:25 ex Plymouth on the other dates if you catch my drift....



Warning: Anyone visiting Newquay on the Saturday of the May Bank Holiday Weekend should be warned its the annual 'Run to the Sun' festival. This means that for one it will be pi*s*ng it down with rain but even worse the town will triple in population and 95% of these people will be drunk. Then theres the Volkswagen Beetle carnival around the town, renowned for the punters carrying 'super soakers' not loaded with water but either beer or 'liquid body waste'. I have been every weekend since I was 16 and its a major riot.....
