The real crunch poll.

If anyone's asking about the 180s, they're in with the DMU poll.

A 90 and MkIIIs at present, but nothing will ever beat the 86s, personally.

Where is the Class 37 option?

And why are Class 253 / 254 DMUs in the wrong poll?

Class 180 but also not on the poll and probably the least favourite for everyone else but the Class 220/1/2. Out of the 4, I'd say the 222 is the best imo.

Personally I always preferred the 253/254 numbering for HST`s. I can see why they changed it though.

I love any stock with droplight windows. The breeze and the entrance to stations is unbeatable, so 90 + coach rake for me :)

Mine is the 373s because of the noise that they make, the 91s follow very closely behind though

Because they are not DMU's. What do you think the initials stand for?
Exactly, HSTs were DEMUs(!!), hence the class 25x series being used for them! (251s were the Pullmans and the 252 was the HST prototype) Loco rotation from coaching stock was too much to keep up with so became classified as loco and coaches in the early/mid 80s, the vehicle number 43xxx was used despite the fact it was the same as the class 43 Warships, as not only were they all out of service but also all cut in the early 70s

To me they are not, as they don't have a facility for working in Multiple. Diesel trainsets, definitely. The only way in which "multiple" applies is that both power cars work off one set of controls, but that doesn't make them DMUs. Voyagers definitely are DMUs, and French TGVs are EMUs, maybe Pendolinos are too...

HST for me, especially with a quality refurbishment, preferably with Grammar seats.

Chiltern's 68s are brilliant though and possibly better than any current HST layout.

I remember when I first became interested in trains, in the early 1980s, most enthusiasts hated HSTs, because they werent proper locomotives.

Now, everyone, seems to love them, since they are the closest thing we have to proper locomotives!

Personally, they have always been my favourite

Have to love the trams. Always loved waiting on the platform for them to leave after travelling. The noises from the Valenta engine, Napier turbocharger and Marston cooler group were a symphony of power.

Voted 373. Of the options I haven't travelled on several in their current guise; the ones I have are HST; Mk4 sets; 22x; 390s; 395s; 374s and 373s (when with GNER).

The 373s were the only one where everything (ride quality, seat-window alignment, noise levels; etc.) was on point. May have been slightly slower to Leeds than a Mk4 set, but I still had all my teeth on arrival!

Hear hear - Succinctly put. :)
Currently it has to be a class 68 with a set of coaching stock. I miss the Deltics plus coaches as well as the plentiful 47's and electric loco's with coaches.
The 68s do seem to be worthy successors to the previous generations of oft vaunted passenger locomotives - They definitely sound and accelerate the way that they should.
