I was out ticking off stations from my list yesterday and so got the train from Lincoln to Collingham.

I disembarked and started taking photos of the station. As the train departed, the guard lent out of the window, waved and shouted “Bye!”. Made my day!
I wonder if that was @LowLevel ?

25+ mile cycle ride in glorious sunshine and incredibly no wind. Stopped off at Fradley canal side cafe for tea & sausage sandwich. Wonderful day to be out.

Happy that a hotel allowed me to start breakfast 15 mins before official opening so I could easily make a train. Who says the Germans are sticklers for rules!

I received some stickers today which I'd ordered and they turned out way better than I'd expected.

Someone took a photo of our dog alongside her other dog walking mutts lined up on a fallen tree, and used some AI software to turn it into a cartoon. I got stickers printed because I thought they looked adorable.

Well chuffed with the result!

Going to give the remaining ones to the dog walker to hand out if she likes.

I've just returned home from a lunch in the City of London which I'd organised for former pupils, and their wives, supporters and friends, of Mercers' School - opened in 1542, closed 1959. 52 people were there, and everyone appeared to have enjoyed it. The food, drink, and the venue were excellent, and altogether it was a very satisfying event.

I went to the pub in Northallerton while my partner was swimming. I intended to have two pints, and when I ordered the second the cask ran out while it was being pulled so the barman gave me the “large half” for free.

And it was very nice too

Normally the end of the barrel tastes like the bottom of the barrel :frown:

At my slot car club* last night I was chuffed to get a personal best time record.

(* think Scalextric but on steroids - and about 4 times faster).

The better Devon city
Had a conversation with a neighbour I haven't seen for a while. In the few months since our last talk he's got a new job, earned two promotions and is happier than ever before. He's planning to sit back with a nice cold beer tonight.

Travelling on the ex-Berlin Tatras in Oradea, Romania, as well as their ex-Magdeburg example. Walking around admiring the stunning Art Nouveau architecture of the city. A city that seems well off the tourist trail and very underrated. Travelling certainly is a great distraction from real life.

Stopped by Supertrain 2025 in Calgary which had a good draw from western Canada. Saw a few British themed setups. Turnout was very good given the large parking lot being full with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Amazed by how much technology and detail in it now but know it is not cheap. That said, the prairie layouts looked much simpler with getting some track and adding sand and a few grain wagons!

Logged into my banking site; and today I only needed letters 1, 2, 3 and 5 from my memorable whatever - so no awkward counting on the fingers!!

Romanian Railways (CFR) automatically refunded me money, as I paid for a 1st class ticket from Timişoara to Oradea, but the train was a Siemens diesel without first class. I wasn’t expecting to get any money back, and I wouldn’t have even bothered to claim it, so thank you CFR! They may have there many issues, but they were reliable on all my journeys.

Made a chicken salad sandwich and let me tell you that thing was delicous. All the veg tasted just right :D
A simple thing like that can easily make a day - my "go-to" lunch at the moment that makes me happy is a salad comprising lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sweetcorn, raw mushrooms and gherkins in a chilli and lime dressing. Can you tell I'm on a diet?

That sounds great apart from sweetcorn, I really don’t see the point in it. Still, that’s only me, if you like it then absolutely fine.

You were doing fine until you mentioned gherkins. They are the work of the devil.
