Well the time is coming for me to do work exp. Is there anything in the railway i could do that involves going on trains

Surely you already know this. You did mention the fact that you were about to do work experience at the beginning of the thread after all :? .
Anyhow, the answer to your question is that you do work experience in year 10, ages 14-15.

I first asked Virgin about station duties but the 'couldn't fit me in' so I asked at the SVR and I worked as a fitters assistant for 3 weeks (I got an extra week they liked me that much) in the MPD. Engineers, fitters etc assistant postions don't tend to be heavy lifting work as they try to show and explain what they are doing rather than using you as a holdhall tea maker. One word to describe the experiance is FANTASTIC!!!!! I even got a cab ride at the end of the placment on 7802 Bradley Manor. That was the highlight for me. Good Luck and just remember to enjoy it, no matter what s***e they give you.
