One store down here has that as well. It's something to do with McCafe which I believe is from New Zealand/Australia.

Didn't we ever get the in-store McCafe over here? I know that when I was in Sydney, the look of one branch was similar to that of the current UK design (lots of partitioned areas for people, with more comfortable seating for people who are just having a coffee or doing some work on a laptop/tablet). However, I can't remember if they've ever used that branding and most of the Maccy D's I go to now are fairly small ones.

Mind you, in Australia, they had a separate counter for coffees and more cakes/doughnuts to choose from (at least I think they sold more things).

In Birmingham New Street when I last went there they had a machine that made smoothies and iced coffees! I certainly enjoyed it... I'm guessing it's just a trial and will hopefully come to other places! Maybe it's the one jonmorris0844 is talking about in King's Cross but I can't remember seeing one there!

The York Way/Road branch has the new Blended Ice machine. It is currently capable of making 4 drinks, but there is space for more to be added. The machine costs each store £13,500 and is slowly being rolled out across the country.

I guess as before, if they don't do it properly, complain to customer services? (I guess complaining to the server would be met with little more than a grunt in most cases :P)
To be honest, I think a better way of dealing with it would just to ask for it to be Flurried. It seems a lot of hassle for you to go to complaining to Head Office.

Wow, someone has been taking lessons from the railway with prices like that. Especially if they're slowly rolling out... :p

There was a McCafe in the Solihull "town" (if it can really be called a town) centre McDonalds a few years ago. It was attached to a regular McDonalds with a small gap in the wall between the two as well as having its own entrance from the street. In its later days it was just used as extra space for normal McDonalds customers but still retaining the different tables & chairs.

Good old McDonalds, loved it as a kid, loved the milkshakes as a kid! I only tend to eat the stuff when I'm intoxicated or about to get intoxicated or if I'm desperate for food. I don't dislike it, I love burgers and always go for the saver menu!

At 3am in Manchester the Oxford Road McDonalds is pretty much the only place open for food! Once had to spend a few hours overnight at Manchester Picc, my mate and I walked down there (we weren't allowed to use vending machine on Platform 13!!) bought 4 hot-chocolates, drank half and topped the rest up with whisky, it was a bitter evening though and we weren't keen on sobering up! I digress, McDonalds love it or hate it, its convenient and usually open!

Sorry for straying off-topic slightly, but what about Dominos? Personally, I think theyre the nicest pizzas money can buy (and you'll need plenty to be able to afford them), much nicer than PizzaHut and other high street grease boxes.

I really dislike the Dominos bases. We are lucky to have a independent pizza take away across the road from our Dominos, run by an Italian man who does the best pizzas I have ever eaten, and cheaper than Dominos as well.

Dominos are good, but I would much rather go to ASDA and spend a fraction of the price for what basically amounts to the same thing.

When I used to live in town, I was always amazed at how they stayed in business, given that they were twice as expensive as all their opponents.

Well Pizza Hut have been losing money for years - hence the proliferation of 50% off Offers :p

Really? Nearly all UK locations are franchises.

Corporately part of the world's largest (number of locations) fast food restaurant company, Yum! Brands.

Yum actually sold The Restaurant side of the UK business to Rutland Partners

for £1 after it racked up losses of £20 million plus in 2011. They now receive

only Royalty payments in connection with that side of the business.

They retained the takeaway only shops.

Can you provide a source to this? Their website pizzahut.co.uk states quite clearly they are a subsidary of Yum! Brands, Inc

***edit*** Apologies Butts I have just found Rutland Partners operate the UK Franchise of Pizza Hut****

They were part owned by whitbread and Yum until about 2006 I believe? (same as Brewers Fayre, Premier Inn etc). Pepsi co owned them 1977-1997.
