I see as it stand Stockport will be relegated but is only 0-0 so Stockport can change that and at top, Mansfield are set to go up as they are winning 1-0 against Wrexham.

Not good news for Stockport as they are losing 1-0 and Gateshead, Lincoln and Tamworth are all winning, Mansfield are still winning 1-0.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

I hear that Stockport fans have run on pitch and start attacking Kidderminster players :-x play be stop since Kidderminster score in 50th mins.

Stockport are relegated to Blue Square North division after Gateshead, Lincoln and Tamworth have all win, Mansfield are playing in League Two next season after they win 1-0 against Wrexham.

Hartlepool 1 - 1 Brentford full time. Well done poolies.

The cherries are up.

I was more nervous waiting for this game to finish than earlier.

One of my mate put a fiver on promotion the day Eddie was appointed, at 90-1 I believe, when we were in 21st place.

I told him he had lost his marbles. Now I have a very big slice of humble pie to spoon through when I see him next week.

No complaining. :D

Wouldn't be the first time you've eaten humble pie would it?

With odds like that, I think I would have been tempted too. I wouldn't have done much, only £1 probably, but even that would be more than enough to get me an 8-in-15 FoSW ticket!

Best of luck in the Championship next season. What worries me now is that - assuming neither Swindon nor Yeovil win the play-offs - Bournemouth will be my local Championship contender next season!

Yeovil stands a very good chance at promotion if Brentford's performance today is anything to go by.

Welcome onboard if they don't. :p

21st to the top in 6 months. Surreal!

Is Reading (assuming they're relegated) not closer in miles? I would definitely say quicker to get to Reading than Bournemouth without a doubt from Bath.
I'd say driving Bath to Reading is 1hr 15 - 1hr 30 at a guess, and Bath to Bournemouth has got to be about 1hr 45 - 2hrs.

By Train Reading is definitely closer, as I am assuming Bath - Bournemouth by rail requires going via Southampton?

Not closer in miles, but probably faster as the M4 can be well-utilised if going to Reading.

Going to Bournemouth along the A350 is not exactly fast, but does offer the chance to stop over at the Eagle's nest for afternoon Dorset cream tea.

Bath to Bournemouth is probably slightly quicker via Salisbury.

(Actually if I was doing it at a quiet time of day, I'd go down to Shaftesbury on the main roads, then across the Chase via Ashmore, Horton and Threeleg to the A338.)

Quite likely. I haven't been down that section of the A36 (Salisbury - Warminster) so don't really know what the driving conditions there are like.

On a matchday I wouldn't trust the A338 as far as I can throw it.

ATCF Bath to Bournemouth is about 50 miles, Bath to Reading is about 60. (And for reference, to Southampton is about 53.)

Just used AA route planner as I didnt realise there was that much in it, gives Bath to Bournemouth as 65.4 miles! Bath to Reading (via Chippenham being the most direct) 71.5 miles.
Bath to southampton 63.1 miles Southampton to Bournemouth 33.2 miles.

Stockport are relegated to Blue Square North division after Gateshead, Lincoln and Tamworth have all won, Mansfield are playing in League Two next season after they won 1-0 against Wrexham.

The sad demise of the football fortunes of Stockport County still continues. Since the start of the 21st century, they have plummeted downwards from the Championship to what next season will offer in the Conference North.

So, Alty have made the playoffs after the two teams that could catch them both dropped points, and Alty annihilated Hinckley (not like any other result was really expected). Hinckley now have the very impressive goal difference of -104

Altrincham look like they will be playing Guiseley AFC in the play-offs, which will not be an easy task, as they have had a very strong season in the Conference North in the current campaign.

I remember last season, when Hyde were Champions of the Conference North, that their manager said that Guiseley were the hardest team to play against and that he never looked forward to playing them either at home or away.

All this because of what I said about Bournemouth being my local? In a straight line, Bournemouth are definitely closest, notwithstanding Yeovil and/or Swindon winning promotion as well. But in terms of travelling time, Reading beat them hands down - and, by train at least, Yeovil too.

Quite likely. I haven't been down that section of the A36 (Salisbury - Warminster) so don't really know what the driving conditions there are like.

Whenever I've done the Warminster to Salisbury bus the A36 has always been fairly quiet. It's central section around Salisbury is much than it could be; the ends on the other hand (Southampton and Bath)...

I'd say that it could still be Brackley that we end up playing - we play Halifax on Tuesday, and they've got a pretty bad track record against us. Droylsden is Alty's last game of the season, and given that we beat them 5-0 at the Butcher's Arms, means that in theory it should be a walkover. Halifax's game in hand is Chester, and their last game is against Stalybridge. I'd also expect their players to be absolutely knackered - they've played 30/03, 01/04, 03/04, 06/04, 09/04, 11/04, 13/04, 16/04, 18/04 and 20/04, then its us on 23/04, Chester 25/04 and Stalybridge 27/04.

Guiseley are in second place and no less than SIX points clear of Brackley Town who are in third place and they also have a game in hand also over them. Guiseley are away to Harrogate Town on Tuesday night and at home to Hinckley United next Saturday. Can you check your records about Brackley Town again, please.

Guiseley...............P40.....88pts
Brackley Town.......P41....82pts
FC Halifax.............P39....74pts
Altrincham............P40....74 pts

I'm thinking that Alty could take fourth in Halifax's place (if Alty Beat Halifax, CHester beat Halifax, and then whatever happens at Stalybridge to Halifax, plus Alty beat Droylsden.) I already know that Brackley are fishing 3rd this season.

I now follow your logic. Altrincham beat FC Halifax 4-3 in the away fixture as recently as 6th April, so you must feel confident of beating them on your own ground.

I wonder if we will get Bournemouth away on a Tuesday night in November.

Hope not. Leeds at home will be a big money-spinner.

If anything that happened during 87-90 was to go by, it will be Leicester away Boxing Day.

Good win for Spurs - 3 goals in seven minutes to beat Man City 3-1 after being outplayed for the first hour.

If United manage to beat Villa (sorry SS4) quite likely it's all over :p

I am wondering if Bournemouth have another "gem" of a centre-forward hidden away, like Ted McDougall who they eventually sold to Manchester United.

In 1971, in the first round of the FA Cup, he scored NINE goals in an 11-0 win over Margate.

Tottenham Hotspur 3...Manchester City 1

Three goals in the last 15 minutes by Tottenham make the second to fifth places in the Premiership look "interesting".

... and still in the record books.

The "gem" you speak of would be Brett Pitman. Came through youth ranks here, prolific in his youth team days, then almost wasted under a whole raft of managers, until Eddie helped him rediscover his form. At one stage I think he scored something crazy like 88 in one season in the youth team.

After 28 goals in League Two in the promotion season and a hat-trick within the first couple of games back in League One, he was snapped up by Bristol City for £800k, but then fell out of favour when McInnes took over. Even so, he remained top scorer in a poor team.

Scored 19 goals since moving back to the south coast in November for a token £60k, with one in each of his last eight appearances. He is again top scorer in the team and has the ability to pull a goal out of nowhere when needed most. Quite a few stunning 30-yard thunderbolts I have seen him produce over the years, usually near the end of a game and the deadlock still needed to be broken.

He can be perceived as lazy and his body language doesn't always endear him to the supporters when things don't go well. There is still a section of the support to date who heavily criticises him for not putting in a shift despite his goals being crucial to promotion this year. His off-ball movements have improved a great deal since his move to Bristol City and is much less selfish in front of goal.

I'm sure he will be going onto bigger and better things in the future. As for big mac's 9-goal record, I don't think it is going to be broken for a good while.

Although all 3 spurs goals came in a period of 6mins 20 seconds! Bale said they realised City had no wingers so they opted to play everything wide.

I'd rather save ourselves though, Stoke can grind results if needs must but we're incapable of keeping a clean sheet. Really hoping it doesn't come down to Wigan on the last day but I fear for next season whether it's in the championship or the premier league.

The result at Tottenham Hostpur today means that Manchester United now only need three points to become Champions.....and guess who they play next..

This will add much emphasis to their home match tomorrow night against Aston Villa.

Did he not play for Southampton before going on to Man Utd ?

Mind you when he was playing in the higher leagues we had a good team - qualifying for the 74 and 78 World Cups.....

Those were the days

Maybe you should get Fergie to manage Scotland, you know, with Fergie time and all the other associated "bonuses", you might actually beat someone again.
