I see Coventry beat Bristol City 5-4 in they first match at Northampton ground, only 2,204 fans went to watch that but I don't sure how many Coventry fans went but aleast 5,000 Coventry fans went to Ricoh Arena for a match between Coventry City Legends and Midlands All Stars.

I didn't watch the match but aleast Moyes have win a trophy if you count Community Shield,....

My cousin, a Man Utd fan, commented on Facebook that they "started the way they mean to go on", naturally I was hoping he meant "to play more championship sides", though I'm not holding my breath on that one.

....I never get why they played it at Wembley,....

Money from food outlets the FA probably own or rent out?
Cost of hiring another ground when Wembley would be free?

.....surely they should played it at Etihad Stadium or even at Anfield as it be more easy for Wigan fans and probably Man Utd fans too to travel to.

Wigan fans maybe, not sure Man Utd fans would think it closer. ;)

All quiet on the "Bournemouth Front" on here from a well known acolyte of theirs - anything to do with the 6-1 dubbing by Watford yesterday

Oi, I don't need you reminding me of the result. <(

We may well be on the receiving end of a few tonkings this season as our young squad adjust to life at a higher level. We have gotten so used to winning that some supporters have lost the sense of realism. Watford were one game away from the Premiership last year, and are one of the favourites again this year, for good reasons. No shame losing at theirs.

That even exceeded Tim Fisher's own expectations this year, who predicted that the worst case scenario is 3000. This is only the beginning of a painful slide towards oblivion.

Does it take about 45 minutes, or longer than that ,to drive from Coventy to the ground at Northampton on Saturday match days ?

AA Route Planner says 40 minutes from Ricoh to Sixfields (A444-M6-M1-A4500), so your estimate is about right.

If you saw the Forest Green Rovers v Hyde match score, you would know that I most certainly know how you feel...

^^ I see Hyde are at home on Tuesday night and next Saturday, so if Hyde fans get behind the team then., by next Saturday you will probably forget about score line from todays games. :)

Tomorrow night will see virtually a full Conference Premiership league programme, with some quite intruiging fixtures. Are there any other followers of teams in that division on this Football thread ?

I don't follow any team per se, however I would quite like to see Salisbury City do well.

After their 8-0 away drubbing at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, I wondered how they would fare at home to Southport. Hyde took a lead in the first half, which Southport equilised and it was still 1-1 until four minutes into "added-on" time.....then Southport scored the winner...<(<(

Unlucky to Hyde then but I notice Southport are only team in that division to have 100% record (unless Cambridge beat Welling tonight) so aleast Hyde lose to team that doing well so far.

Do anyone know if Stockport have played their first match this season in Conference North division let? Really Stockport shouldn't be in that division and should finish top of that division come May.

This weekend sees the opening fixtures in the Conference North and Stockport County open their season at Edgeley Park with a home match against Boston United.

What about "They'll always be an England" or "Land of Hope and Glory" :p

Is Land of Hope Glory the England Commonwealth Games Anthem.

Has Jerusalem been mentioned in the past as an anthem for England...

While we are on the subject of anthems, do Northern Ireland use G.S.T.Q or do they have there own, I ain't seen a Northern Ireland match for a long time

Good win for Northern Ireland who beat Russia 1-0 in World Cup Qualifying which should please Portugal too.

Wales draw 0-0 against Ireland which probably better score line for Wales then Ireland.

Good result for NI (whichever anthem they played :p)

Interesting to note the ethnic makeup of the England and Scotland teams - Scotlands was pure white whilst the England team seemed more diverse. I wonder if Wales and Northern Ireland fielded any non-caucasians

Also interestingly a Scottish (Paisley) born player scored the winner for England, and an English (Doncaster) born player scored the opener for Scotland
