I applied for the Victoria based driver training in November when this post started, was not successful then tried to improve my application and reapplied when it came up again a few weeks ago and was very pleased to receive an invitation to an interview yesterday! This reiterates the point that has already been made here about persistence.

With three guards going on this course does it mean three guard positions need to be filled?

I'm in pool for Skipton conductor shifts but mentioned I'm open to working at Leeds so just thought I'd ask.

Anyone know when next Leeds conductor course is?

Good luck to you all btw.

I believe a guards course has just started at Leeds and there is another scheduled for March, although I'm not 100%.

I know there are another 4 guards who passed all driver assessments who didn't make the January course. So there will be even more guard jobs to fill by the next Driver course!

Has anyone who sat the 1st Assessments in Manchester earlier this month heard anything yet?
The 2nd Assessments were supposed to be taking place between 29/1 and 6/2.

Looks like the role has just been advertised again.

Hello Red18, I sat the first assessments on 2nd Jan, hadn't heard anything when I knew others had, so rang them, they asked if I was willing to accept results over the phone, to which I obviously replied yes, then got bad news!
If you are still waiting to hear I suggest you call them.

Well done Wall88, that's great news.
I'm still waiting, but at least it seems that things are moving.
When do you go for the next assessment?

++Update++
I haven't received an email but I just logged onto the Northern Careers site on the off chance and had a message there saying I had passed.
Invited to the next stage on Feb 6th.

Hi all,
I've not long joined the forum after deciding to apply. Suffice to say I've just applied for Manchester. I'm awaiting an email now. Either way I've tried my best and that is really all you can do. I've had two assessment days for the Police in the past and passed both, however I'd convinced myself I'd failed. So you never know, revise all material sent and try your best. Even if you think you did badly don't give up, always hard to judge yourself.

That said these days are going to be different so I'm not expecting to pass. I don't think my career would or should give me the right over anyone else.

I wish luck to you all, fingers crossed I'll get through to the next stage. I'm sure pass or fail I'll be regularly visiting this site.

Could anyone shed any light on what the medical involves? (Location, attire, process, etc.)

Providing I've passed the MMI of course...

Stage 2 passed today.
Just waiting for MMI results now.

Had an interesting conversation with the assessor after the tests.
I asked if the results are still graded as Good Pass / Pass / Border Line and Fail etc..
As she pointed out, because these tests are still very new they have not tested enough people yet to work out what the average pass mark should be so there are no graded bands yet.
So for the time being at least it is either a straight forward pass or fail.
For people applying to Northern, who didn't accept border line passes, this can only be a good thing.

Good luck everyone still in the hunt.

Hi All,

I will shortly be commencing training at Bolton and would like to ask if there is sufficient parking available at the station yard car park (would hate to be late on the first day..)
Alternatively is there staff parking available at Horwich Parkway, as I know the car parks are full by 07:30 each morning.

Please feel free to PM if preferred.

Thanks, T

Not sure myself, I intend to park locally and catch the train into Bolton. May as well if it's free.
