Oldham lost 2-1 to MK Dons this afternoon which MK Dons win it in 92th mins too :( probably didn't help too that Oldham went down to 10 men in second half as Kusunga was sent off for second yellow card. (his second red card this season too)

Barwell 1-2 Droylsden FT

Droylsden fc have won for first time this season after 33rd matches without a win and they even lost all the away games before today too. Well done to Droylsden :)

EDIT: Sadly Droylsden draw 2-2 and not 2-1. :(

Cup holder Wigan are through to FA Cup QF as they beat Cardiff 2-1 this afternoon and Sunderland join them too as they beat Southampton 1-0 in early match.

Massive respect to Preston players today who all decided to wear their normal shirts with the name Finney on the back in mark of respect to the great man who sadly passed away last night

People on Droylsden fc twitter account was saying that Droylsden won 2-1 when I posted that but I see later on that someone mention that Barwell scored in 95th mins to ditch Droylsden they first win of season, still good draw for Droylsden and I'm sure they will win a match sooner then later.

Man City are through to FA Cup QF as they beat Chelsea 2-0.

FT Barcelona 6...Real Vallecano 0

Two more goals by Messi to add to his ever-growing total and this emphatic result was an ideal preamble to the club's Champions League tie this week at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.

How motivating will it have been to Sheffield United at half time to hear they've been drawn against Sheffield Wednesday in the next round if they get through?

FA Cup QF draw.

Arsenal v Everton
Brighton or Hull v Sunderland
Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton
Manchester City v Wigan

Arsenal have just beat Liverpool 2-1 mean they will meet Everton in QF.

Not sure of the veracity of something I overheard, but "rumour" says that Wayne Rooney is now expected to sign a five and a half year contract extension with Manchester United in a deal that will increase his current salary of £250,000 a week to £300,000 a week.

Perhaps covering his financial options should Labour come to power at the next General Election and raise the top rate of income tax as they have threatened to do.

I'm sure he has a smart accountant to minimise his tax liabilities , just as well he is a Footballer or the "fat cat" outcry would be deafening. Why don't they quote it as £15 Million per year plus

Probably votes Labour as well - if he can understand how to put a cross into a box :p

My beloved York City won 4-0 away at Plymouth yesterday. So far, we have had no postponements (only club in Lge2 I think not too) and have turned a dozen or so games winless streak to just 2 defeats since the turn of the year.

Why are there only two Champions League matches on Tuesday and only two matches on Wednesday this week ? Could not all the fixtures be played over those two days ?

Two reasons come to me:
1) It allows them all to be broadcast on TV
2) It allows the Europa League to catch up (as they have an additional knockout round), so the two competitions are synchronised from the Quarters Finals onwards.

It's reason 2, the extra round in Europa League means the round of 16 in CL is spread out over 2 rounds of Europa League

Fifteen years ago today Manchester City were playing Macclesfield Town in a league one fixture at a decrepit Maine Road.

I was there, Cittay won 2-0.

Amazing what a bottomless pit of money can buy you in modern football.

Do they own the stadium or is it on lease, managed for them with the management company keeping revenue?

I understand that the freehold of the land has been retained by Manchester City Council with the football club having a long lease - similar to the initial arrangement with regard to the Britannia Stadium.

Lets not forget how much money City are spending on redeveloping the area around there though and since we are on a similar subject just what exactly is the story with West Ham and the Olympic stadium? Furthermore how much money has been ****ed away in legal battles over it?

West Ham move in in 2015 and The Bolyen ground will get redeveloped for flats and a park and such like.

And yes, lots of money was ****ed away on it due to Barry Hearn thinking that Orient should have had the ground even though they dont seem to fill up their current one every game now..

Which match?

I see Newcastle are to lose Cabaye to Paris St-Germain now. Get him for £4.3m and transfer him for £20m, that's a sizeable POR!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25917101

As a follow-up to this past posting....
Incidentally, Cabaye scored the final goal in the Champions League game on Tuesday night in the Paris St Germain 4-0 away win at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, when he came on as a late substitute.

How much of their own money are they spending on facilities in east Manchester for the wider community rather than for their own use and benefit?

Just been to the 'Splash' at Deepdale. The tributes to Tom Finney have been incredible, loads of clubs have paid tribute but if you can leave anything to represent your club and pay tribute to a legend then it'd be incredible.
