Its a bit of a fussy colour scheme in my opinion. I don't dislike it as such but I think London Midlands is nicer.

I have to admit I quite like it, though I have to agree that it would look better if it didn't go all the way to the front!

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but are there any ideas of when this will be in service?

Been posted elsewhere its booked to work the 09:58 Manchester Airport to Edinburgh.

Well has there been an exciting announcement. All I can see is a train has had some stickers put on the outside. I travel inside the train!!!!

That's one way to describe it another would be S***

Ha ha. Yeah to be fair I think your description is more accurate. It does look a bit like the designer was on acid when they came up with it. Still, its better than that crazy modern art idea BA had for their tail fins.

As I pointed out in another thread that move backfired as people started suggesting the announcement would relate to more carriages or to the on-board facilities improving, so TPE had to disappoint them by saying it's just new vinyls which you probably expected us to do anyway. TPE currently have a social media manager on trial, I think they need better ideas or it won't get beyond a trial.

I think I like it - will get a better idea when I actually see it in the "flesh" so to speak.

The only thing I'm not sure on is the straight lines on the middle carriages

The member of platform staff at Piccadilly yesterday suggested the "tarted up one" would be out tomorrow (Monday) when he overheard a couple of us remark we had grey 350403 (again!)

I like it alot :D

I think it would look even better if the stripes were on the lower bodyside, as opposed to through the windows. Much better than some of the blander liveries like EC or TS&GN anyhow.

Love it! It's definitely bright and colourful! Should wake people up in the morning :D

I agree about the straight lines. Maybe they should have carried on with the curvy ones?

It's basically an updated version of the 'dynamic lines' livery, so has kept the 'wavy lines at the end, straight lines elsewhere' concept.

It's just a different take on Dynamic Lines. It's been 'zoomed in' and moved up from how it appears on the 185s sure, but they are mostly straight on the middle coach, here they seem to have continued it right through to the ends before 'wiggling' it again!

Same here - looks great on the driving vehicles, but not so great on the middle carriages IMO

How much money has been spent on the design and application of that B+++S>>> that could have been spent on real passenger benefits?

Why bother colouring them at all? Why not just run everything in that lovely undercoat grey?

Or perhaps FTPE know that it sticks in people's memories, and so it makes them a brand...

It looks pretty damn striking on the centre coaches, I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks in the flesh when I hopefully get up to Manchester for the first time this year soon :)

Well it's not an undercoat in the first place.

The 350/1s ran around in it for years and no one complained, they were just happy to be travelling in a noise free and smooth riding environment.

This forum is full of complaints about the standard of rolling stock then a few new ones turn up and they are not pretty enough, please!!

Railways are a national utility so if a train is in a utilitarian livery why should we care.

Again, I travel in the train not outside it.

And again, eww.
Now that I've seen a photo of the whole train I have to agree, it doesn't look good. Can't decide if it is worse than the 185 version though, they are both rather nasty. I much prefer the varient of First Group rail livery which is to be found on IC125s and class 180s, which just have the lines on a plain coat of dark blue without the fade to electric blue at the top. Even on those, though, the pink doors are still vile.

I much prefer the simpler liveries, such as London Midland, some of Northern's, and to be honest, Virgin Trains'. Or to be honest, London Undergrond.

Expensive liveries are just that, expensive, they don't look good to start with and will usually only end up looking worse. Block liveries that can be pained on, or a painted basecoat with cut block colours (rather than printed) looks much better than one that looks like a graphics designer has vomited their ideas on the unit. When will these people learn, less is more.

Maybe that's why I prefer First's IC125s/180s to their 350s/185s, the former is simpler (especially the IC125 power cars, just plain blue). I do think more elaborate liveries work VERY occasionally though, and some liveries are a tad too plain (I guess it depends on the colours too).

Is my updated version of INTERCITY Swallow simple enough for you?

The fact that the new variation on the existing livery has been the reason for so many postings upon this thread shows that, at least amongst the forum membership, First TPE have achieved the reaction exactly what was to be expected and caused a brand marketing tool to be successful.

Would you buy a car painted like that and would you trust the person who painted it. No chance.

Looks better on the 185s. There's better ways of stylising than just by zooming in on one aspect of the previous livery.
