I think we met in Leeds when I didn't get my medical?
All sorted now... Had my medical yesterday in York, combined it with a trip to the NRM with the kids.

Hi mate , not certain about that I only did my assessments in Leeds , I completed my medical in derby . Hope you and the kids had a good day I have a list of places to go on the train from my kids now lol .

Drivers leave Northern to move up to TPE or other TOC's/FOC's. Not really their loss, moving away from suburban work to express work is a step up the ladder.

Not really true at all. I would never have dreamed of going TPE from Northern until this last year or so, I don't consider them a step up at all. By the time you take into account the fact they have Sundays in there's not that much difference in the money and our shift pattern is miles better than theirs, yeah Virgin and X Country are a different matter

People are leaving in droves lately because the diagrams are ridiculously intense and the quality of work is terrible (repetitive when it doesn't need to be)

Lads who've been here 20 odd years and were quite happy to stay forever are now looking around.

Well let's hope they don't hang around replacing them :)

Theres been literally dozens of new starters this last couple of years. Even some of those are already buggering off to other TOCS/FOCS.

I don't want to give the wrong impression here, it's still a great job but peoples heads are being turned because Northern seem to be running the place down.

A job is what you make of it, I go in get my work, do it and go home

Gossip, bitching and people bringing morale down is not for me

Hello Russell,

That was me that you met in Leeds! Glad you got sorted finally, I know that you had a bit of a nightmare with your medical to say the least!

Roll on Monday 4th, See you in Leeds.

Cheers mate, looking forward to it, to the postee above, I respect your opinion but I'm a believer in the fact that the jobs what you make it, the people who work in the depot where I'm stationed have said it's the best decision they have made in their lives.

I've deleted quite a few posts from this thread that are irrelevant. Please keep contributions on topic and about the Northern Rail vacancies indicated int he thread title.

Please start a new thread if anyone wants to discuss different driving roles. Thanks.

It certainly is. The assessments feel like an age ago. I was made redundant earlier in the year due to the business failing and have been in my "temporary" job for nearly four months.

Still waiting patiently, just not holding my breath.

Definitely some news would be great. Would like to be on a course sometime soon. The anticipation is building. But the wait will be worth it!

The call will come soon. I can feel it in my bones! At first the wait was hard. But I now have got in the groove of just thinking I've waited this long I can wait a bit more. I'm hoping that will mean when the call does come it will be more of a pleasant surprise.

True I think it's easy after a long wait to forget what a good position were in. September and possibly a course in November too thinking/hoping it may be sooner rather than later.

Worst case for some of us we'll be in an emptier pool.
