Think this was what I saw at Wimbledon this morning. Is that loco Robin of Templecombe? (Shameful I know that I looked at the nameplate rather than the number!)

So now they can test an ex-458/0 and an ex-460 together. Should be fun...

Well they've been struggling for over a week to get all 4 units out. Not once this week has Hounslow between the full 10 coaches, on Monday both were a single unit. Last week they were alternating between Windsor and Hounslow for the full 10 coaches or a 450/455. Reliability heading south again or just a blip? :P Lets hope the recently delivered units complete testing quickly :)

And yesterday there were 3 short-formed Reading trains in the PM peak. With 22 units diagrammed that means they could only muster 19 of 26 458/0s.

Today there seems to be less short formations, unless they are just listing those for the next few hours.

Couldn't they already do that with 458502 and any of the other four 45853x already delivered? The first four delivered aren't in permanent pairs AFAICT.

I've now seen a post elsewhere about 502 and 531 having been out on test already, (not necessarily in passenger service though).

Right now the only one showing is, surprise surprise, the Hounslow 458/5 diagram! 5 coaches because of a "resourcing issue"

The Waterloo-Windsor/Eton diagram was the full 10 carriages this morning and this evening (delayed, but was on it)

So once again they only managed two out of four units in service, a single unit on both diagrams. The 1828 Waterloo>Windsor did not stop at Vauxhall. At Waterloo the passengers for Sunnymeads were also incorrectly told to use the front 4 coaches, when 7 coaches can fit! Something that needs looking into on the auto announcement system ;)

Meanwhile last weekend both days saw 8502 on testing from Wimbledon Park Depot to Bournemouth and back. On Sunday it was found with 8534:

Yesterday, Monday 4 August, unit 458531 was noted at Twickenham on its own working the 12:23 Windsor & Eton Riverside - Waterloo service. Made the new ten coach platforms a wasted asset!

Passed Doncaster yesterday evening. Cominf through the station itself view was blocked by other trains, but still saw lots of 458 and ex 460 carriages in various states (quite a few blue carriages)

Yeah both diagrams yesterday were only a single unit ;)

Seem to be doing better today with 3/4 in service, full length on Windsor and single unit on Hounslow :)

I've heard we have diagrams at our depot now as mainly Wimbledon Drivers have been working them. Not bad as I learnt them over three months ago.

458504 Doncaster - under rebuild

458531 In service
458532 Wimbledon - testing

458534 In service
458535 In service
458536 Doncaster - nearing completion

This is probably due to other train faults more than the new coaching stock arrival being late. The 16.37 Guildford to Waterloo may have left Surbiton 5 minutes late and run slow as it got towards Wimbledon, meaning I'll miss my connection at Clapham Junction, but on the positive side it's a 450 so first class is declassified. They even did a rare, for this route, on board ticket check.

Although the 8.36 is regularly a 450 at the moment, this service wasn't last Wednesday. Hopefully for my own selfish reasons, it's not a one off.

As an aside, I ended up catching a 26m delayed 17.12 to Brighton which had space so I didn't have to change at East Croydon and standing on a train from London Bridge.

Ah that is the same diagram as yesterday, second day lucky for those people then :D

Is the first refurbished 456 in traffic yet

I don't think so. The one unit pictured so far wasn't expected to go into traffic this time, I understood that after some checks with 455s at Wimbledon it was going back to Wolverton for further work...

There's been no reports of any other refurbed 456s arriving yet, or indeed any other news of the 456s, going by the relevant thread in this forum...

Someone posted pictures from the Brush (Wabtec) Loughborough friends and family open day that was at the weekend. One had a picture of a 458/5 DMSO so 536 can't be complete yet.....

Why does it have to be 458536? Could it not be 458503? Or 04 or 01?

458531-458536 were the ex-460's and harder to convert.AFAIK.Also the first units done.

Of the 6 units made up of entirely 460 vehicles, 458532 and 36 are the pair that use ex luggage vehicles, and these were expected to take longer than the other 4 ex 460s.

So as it has turned out, 458502 (the first ex 458) has overtaken 532 in terms of delivery, but nothing above suggests to me that makes the next unit any more or less likely to be 536, or another ex 458.

We'll just see what it is when it shows up...

I've been told the Ex Gat (460's) were the biggest problem due to corrosion. The 458's haven't got the same problem, apparently. As you rightly say also, the ex luggage vehicles take longer to convert.

So it looks like they've got all 4/4 units out in service today, but at the same time one normal 8-car diagram on the Windsors is short!

There was a /5 parked up in one of the sheds in the depot today, would that have been 502?

Could have been either 502 or 532. 502 has been out and about so you have more chance of seeing 532 on depot......

Seen times for a 458/0 move to Doncaster on 11th. Feeling it might be 8030.....

I suppose it's possibly 502 although I haven't seen it out and about.
