things are bad when Cameron looks like the best of a bad lot! Anyway we can sit back and watch it turn all a bit McBeth once the blood letting starts

Just like people regretted the departure of the lib dems, people will regret the departure of Call-Me-Dave (the best Tory PM since Major, and in the top 5 in my lifetime).

I fear that if there were an election now, we'd have a very right wing tory party, a crazy labour rump, a depleted lib-dem party - perhaps 15 seats, an snp as now, and a ukip official opposition. The overton window would be somewhere near Thatcher on the economy, but social policies would be out the window.

Crickey: that will be a short list ;)

But UKIP cant be the opposition - they are simply Conservatives with a different coat!

The SNP could apply for the job now

The SNP have:

The SNP is to ask to be made the official opposition at Westminster - arguing that its Commons leader enjoys the support of more MPs than Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

There are currently 54 SNP MPs but only 40 of Labour's 229 MPs expressed support for Mr Corbyn on Tuesday.

The SNP has also said it would be able to fill all of the relevant shadow posts to the government.

Continues...

A very quick glance through the papers on-line suggests that's exactly what they are trying to do! they have a point - if Labour splits (ie Corbyn wins the members' votes) then will his MP's get behind him or split away, Gang Of How Many Do You Want - like?

I could see the SNP leading a grand coalition of them, lib dems, plaid, and greens.

However that would be about 65 people, still a little short of a majority.

Hmmm, if you're old enough to remember more than 5 Tory PM's then... well, I thought only Mr Sidorczuk was that old <D

My money is on Osborne, although I don't know what to think about that

Osborne is still in a post Brexit sulk he isn't standing and will never be Tory leader his political career is probably over.

Theresa May is the next pm.

Which suggests and interesting split in the eurosceptic Tory camp...this is going to get very, very bloody...

Very. All was calm in the Tory party, certainly compared to the Labour party, and now this.

Gove...Boris..*Fight!!!*

Whatever you could say about the Tories compared to the labour party they are extremely united.

The labour party as we know it is finished as it's obvious it's going to split as long as Jezza remains so stubborn.

Osborne's said he isn't standing as leader but will continue to serve his Tatton constituents. Although, based on a local newspaper report and a regional TV report many constituents want him to stand down. 65% of Tatton constituents wanted to Remain so feel let down by Osborne.

I'm sure he will remain as an mp but like Milliband and Clegg he's finished in high govt. as he simply cannot be taken seriously.

Or perhaps "Brutus" Gove has now managed to knife both Cameron and Johnson in the back. The leaked email from his wife did for Boris.

So, if I've kept up to date with things, the choices for the Conservatives to make are:

Micheal "We don't need to listen to experts" Gove
Theresa "What Human Rights?" May
Jeremy "Accept this contract" Hunt
Stephen "Homosexuality is a mental illness" Crabbe
Liam Fox

Have I missed anyone? It's quite hard to keep up. Either way, it doesn't look great
