Would the sectional appendix list which ones just connect two sides of farms and which are "public" crossings?

Thanks, that is much more helpful.The SA will normally only list public highways, plus those that have a telephone link to the relevant signal box. Footpaths, bridal ways, private crossings (and the occasional public highway) without telephones will not be shown.

Add to that Forden (new road built at colossal cost - "money no object" or so I was told regarding that one), and the newish road at Penarth, Newtown. It appears there's a very big pile of cash available to close crossings and NR are quite delighted to spend it.
That said, even when they do phone there's no guarantee they won't get hit...
Oh, I know that. Just pointing out that it isn't *always* the crossing user at fault.There have been more incidents of vehicles being struck due to "misuse" by the users than any thing else.
