Well here is the all important question then what are you to the railway world so all of us can offcially brand you.
Let us know which part of the railways is your scene.
Are you a?

Basher
Photter
Spotter
Modeler
Preservationist
Simulator

Basically yes we all do more than just one of these and a lot of us do all but I want to know what you would say your main railway activity is.
For instance I am a photter through and through.
But Im a preservationist (as I volunteer every now and again)
I own models (so I can be a modeler).
And I the idea of doing every piece of track in the midlands (basher).

So let us know!!!!

Photter - definately :p
Modeler - Sort of, except I'm having to sell some of it off at some point soon to pay for other stuff, and currently there's just a single small loop to keep things going/
Simulator - Most certainly, although i only have TRS06, and the computer it's on is completely screwed (which has annoyed me because i'm probably going to lose the routes i've spent months working on :sad:)

Probably a basher, with a little bit of photter and spotter.
Also an ex-modeller.

Basher, probably slightly spotter (not platform veg or anything) and simulator. The latter has been sacrificed somewhat in recent months due to my new laptop not being big enough for most games.

Little bit of photography at preserved railways which I like to visit

Deffo not Spotter and never have been, in fact I’ve hardly met any spotters in 20 years being interested in the subject, so why we all get labelled spotters!

Main interests:

Signalling and ops, history, travel, architecture.

Simulator period: everything

Modelling period: 1950s/60 and 1930s, long before I was born, but I think it makes it more interesting. LNER and BR steam, some SR, Prototype diesels.

Magazines: Rail, Modern Railways, Railway magazine, Steam railways, sometimes heritage railway, Railway modeller, BRM, Model Rail, Hornby.

Favourite steam: LNER A4 Pacific

Favourite diesel: Deltic/Class 20

Favourite electric: Class 87

Favourite lines: ECML, Northern WCML, Plymouth-Penzance, Settle and Carlisle, Highland main line, West Highland line, Transpennine lines, Cotswold line

Least favourite line: Nothing specific, but not a huge fan of most SR routes.

Train I would like to have seen, but didn’t: LNER Silver Jubilee

Worst Train: not much I don’t like, even trams etc. But I think the voyager is the worst designed modern train.

Worst thing about being interested in railways: Being labelled a train spotter, nothing against train spotters, but I have no interest in train numbers and like to get off stations quickly most of the time!)

Best thing about being interested in railways: Travel, spin off interests/skills, meeting like minded people.

Simulator and passive enthusiast. Also I would say I had an active interest in transport planning in general.

Basher - Yes!!
Photter - Hell Yeah!! That's why I want a Canon EOS 450D!!
Spotter - More of a reference spotter, using it to identify photos
Modeler - Keen Modellor, always read Model Rail, own a few peices of stock.
Preservationist - Just helped restore Robert Stephenson "Ugly" No.56 at GCRN
Simulator - Always played Traiz until a few months back, Now play SimSig in my spare time, if I'm not drawing.

Why is it an important question, seems trivial to me? Why do you want to know?

I'd say I'm a 'photter' and a 'preservationist', with a bit of 'basher' and 'simulator' in there too. Wouldn't classify myself as a 'spotter'; I don't have a long enough attention span if i don't have summat like a camera in my hand.

You're not a basher! You almost crapped yourself when I made you go on a train :p

I just wanted a response like that :D:lol:

I was having withdrawal symptons on that 158

Of them all, I'm a Railway Photographer, and a wannabe Preservationist (Need to be over 18 to get in at Llangollen :()

Not listed :(...employee. But I guess from the list it would be Simulator followed by "photter".

Basher - yes, but bit of a lightweight one.
Photter - yes definitely, main interest.
Spotter - not really.
Modeler - ex modeller, lost interest. Also get too pedantic about details due to playing on the 12 inches to 1 foot version too much!
Preservationist - ex preservationist, lack of time and shift work.
Simulator - no interest whatsoever.

Basher - Not at all.
Photter - yes definitely, main interest.
Spotter - not really.
Modeler - Don't have the space or time ATM, I'd liek to get into it though.
Preservationist - Nope. Can't get to any preserved lines.
Simulator - Definitely. A close second to Photting.

What are you???

*arnie voice*
"I'm a cop you idiot!!"

:lol::lol:

Don't know what I am these days, I hardly find myself out photographing trains as much as I used to..
Bashing well there's not much to do, cut down on tours immensely cos I just can't justify the expense.
