DRS have a number of surplus Locomotives and MKII Coaches available for sale and are inviting offers for the purchase of these vehicles.

The following vehicles are being offered for sale:

1 x Class 20 Locomotive
6 x Class 37 Locomotives
5 x Class 47 Locomotives
2 x MKII Coaches

Prospective purchasers can submit bids for any of the above vehicles by completing ITT Ref E03921.

The closing date for the ITT is 12:00, 5th February 2016.

Clearly the 68s have replaced the 47s, a bit surprised to see two 37/6's in the list.

37608 even had the new livery applied so a little surprising to see that in the list.
Judging by the current loco situation, I'd imagine all but the mk2s will be bought. Not sure about the 20. Some of the 47s are in good nick too.
Thanks,
Ross

I wonder how much a loco would go for? Would £57.8 million cover it?

What do you mean, "Am I suggesting a RailUK lotto syndicate"? :P

Interesting to note that not all of the DRS 47 fleet are included in this sale - 790 & 841 aren't mentioned, however I have heard Hoskins has been mentioned for 790. 841s future, rather sadly but unsurprisingly will probably include a trip to Booths or Eastleigh.

Surprised to see the two 37/6s in there, and unsurprised to see three purchases from Harry in there too - 503/512 & 670.

Could do with that class 20 loco,Wonder if SWT would let me park it in Clapped out Yard.Would be useful for getting to work, what with all the road traffic congestion.

I thought it would be fun to have the train set in an old coach in the garden ( corner house ) so possible but silly

The class 20 would probably be a good fit on a preserved/heritage railway

20312 has a cracked engine block and bogies have been swapped around, so it is on ones requiring new tyres. I'd suggest the loco is destined for donating parts and the great scrap yard in the sky...

47790 & 47805 are all but confirmed as having been sold to Hoskings, along with 47841 at Eastleigh for parts.

Can't see any mainline buyers for this lot tbh. Spares and parts maybe for the likes of Colas with the 37s.

Agreed: Even if the loco were in good condition, I would also suggest that the cosmetic alterations that DRS made to its' class 20/3 fleet when they were refurbished would make them less attractive to a heritage organisation. As far as I know, all of the class 20/3 locos that DRS have sold off to date have gone for scrap.

Not quite the case actually, as 20311 & 20314 were bought by HNRC the last time DRS had a 'fire sale'. If this one doesn't go for scrap, then it'll more than likely end up with Harry Needle - He does seem to be doing well returning 20s to the mainline and leasing them to GBRf after all!

I would have thought that colas could be interested in the 37/6s as they have (iirc) a higher speed limit than the bog standard 37s... which would allow colas to reduce (or remove) having to hire 37/6s from DRS

So what state are the Class 37s in then? It says 37608 is still in traffic?

Have they got any engine issues or been stripped for parts already?

On a technicality, the scrap yard is on earth. I guess it's the great locomotive maintenance depot which is in the sky.
