BTP could have used it as high prescence vechile, at stations during large events i.e football matches. LOL!
But it does beg the question though...Why have a Police liveried 37 in the first place?
After all, if the Police need to move either themselves or prisoners via rail, I'm sure they'd use passenger services like the rest of us!
It's a great advert, but I do have to question the wisdom of their tagline. I understand the pun, but 'we're getting there' - hardly inspiring, is it?
Bear in mind that those adverts were advertising the "new" InterCity service of the 80's. I'm no reliable source admittedly, but I
believe that BR's InterCity network and rolling stock wern't exactly the best in the World before that time.
The HST, APT and IC-225 were all intended to play a major part in bringing in an image of "new trains, new service, and a new age in rail travel" which seemed to start off pretty well...But then Thatcher's government decided to use the railway as a personal latrine, and thence came privatisation. :roll:
