TOPS is showing 92016 as being at Wembley now, so would appear to have been at Crewe IEMD for just over 13 hours. That's a long way to go and a fair bit for hassle for what was presumably a quick job!? Seem to remember it (or another one) was in for <24 hours another time recently too.

90037 did the run to Crewe last night with 92016 (and back to Wembley today); 90018 stayed at Wembley (still there this evening per TOPS).
I'm wondering if 90037 will head back on the 0K06 path to Crewe IEMD with 92019 later? It's not been activated yet though...

In other news, Terribly Tatty 90047 lined up to be swapped with 90049 tomorrow.
ah ok thought it might have been 90018 as it was leading it facing north never seen 90037 there so 92019 is due down will be passing by there tommorow will need to keep an eye out for it.

0K06 tonight has now been activated (not that necessarily means it will run). If it does and you're referring to passing Wembley tomorrow, 90037/92019 may well have gone by then - has to come back sometime though...

So far (2 hours on from scheduled departure) doesn't look like 0K06 is running tonight, so you might be in luck...

5x DB 92s back at Dollands Moor and all (per TOPS) at least available for traffic. An embarrassment of riches. Half will probably be back at Crewe by the end of the week though ;)

Anyone think GBRf could buy the 92 for sale in Romania?

They could but I don't think they will.

As well as completing modifications (and then alterations to couplings and ETS for the new Mk5 stock) to the existing operational fleet, GBRf's focus is on reinstating 92006/020. After that there's two more apparently being brought back - 021/040 probably (currently in France).

Beyond that, if GBRf wanted even more (and the cost/benefit equation would probably be getting thin by then) they could either use the last two they own (although the suggestion from John Smith (GBRf MD) is the two remaining ones are too derelict now) or I'd suggest they'd be better off speaking to DB about some of the better examples of the 11 still at Crewe.

The Romanian one will be "sold as seen" and "buyer to remove/transport" - and probably not in great nick (spares donor no doubt). GBRf already have two heavily robbed examples sat in the yard at Loughborough - they probably don't need another that's hundreds away in Eastern Europe they need to transport back somehow.

Two separate threads covering GBRf loco acquisitions (including possible 60s) here: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=149967&page=17 and the DBC 66s up for sale here: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=151673&page=4

Talk of Sheds is banned on the 92 thread ;);)

haha sorry maybe over answered the question??????

I do wonder given DB's current predicament and more openness to sell their stored/in-a-sorry-state locos though whether GBRf are sniffing around some of those ones in Crewe. I can't see DB using them ever again (other than to ship to Europe) and there must be at least a couple in a reasonable condition. They've got 3 that have "only" been stored since 2015 for example, plus another 3 stored 2012-14 which is comparatively recent compared to the ones GBRf are currently reinstating (stored since 2001/2006).

if dbc keep selling locos and gbrf fleet keeps getting bigger i wonder if they have given up if they start selling locos to gbrf who must be there biggest competitor in the markets there in it would appear so i wonder if they will even let the chunnel traffic go and gbrf get there best remaing 92s and even some others they have stored possibly gbrf may even have half the fleet running again.

Some way off that happening I think, but who knows. GBRf will be kept busy for a while yet getting 14 of their own ones fully operational again.

DB haven't given up as such - just the way they've managed things has left them now in the situation where GBRf (and others) are winning the work from them anyway (whether they hang on to the locos or not) and they're now faced with needing to recoup money on their assets (and pretty quickly) - leaving them sitting rotting even further in Toton or Crewe isn't going to get them a penny.

As DB are losing business reinstating the locos to use themselves almost certainly won't stack up. Scrap values aren't great, so becomes an economic necessity/Hobson's Choice for them to sell locos off and get some cash in that way.

With something like the 60s, they may also be able to arrange deals where they keep the maintenance work, so at least get some future income from it.

Indeeed, there may be more money in doing that than actually running the trains themselves!

Mentioned on the Caley Sleeper thread, but 92028 moved to Polmadie from Kingmoor in the early hours ( http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O21042/2017/08/21/advanced ) having moved up from Crewe to Kingmoor on Friday night.

Reported to be working the Glasgow ECS tonight (86401 appears to be out of action last couple of days and 47749 still stranded in Barnetby).

AFAIK it's 028's first foray north of the border and first work with coaching stock since its somewhat challenging times on the Sleeper in Spring 2015.

Appears the 6S94 china clays are using the S&C path today: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H ... 3/advanced

TOPS showing 92044 + 66723 ("Chinook"), although only had 27 mins at Wembley, so possibly just the 66 solo??

EDIT: S&C path cancelled "due to problem with the schedule" and now running on WCML/Shap path. 66723 leading; 92044 DIT

Thought I'd bring this thread back up the listings! Any news on the return of 92043 or 92038? I seem to remember that 038 was planned to be the first to get its Dellner coupler fitted but both seem to have been out of circulation for ages now.

Cheers

EDIT: beaten to it!

I believe 043 (which went in 7th March) is imminent. Watch this space...

038 - which went in 27th June - will be a little while longer. It is having the full sleeper/reliability "modifications" and also I think the Dellners etc as you suggest. As the first 92 to have those they'll be braking new ground so probably will take that bit longer.

Meanwhile, 92023 was moved to Crewe on Thursday after a couple of weeks stopped at Willesden. Could well be heading the other way. As has started with the 73/9s, I expect they'll now need to be a steady procession of 92s going through the works to get the Dellner/buffer and ETS mods ready for the new stock towards the end of the year.

I see there is a path in for an "electric locomotive" move from Mossend to Crewe on Tuesday:

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R03218/2017/09/05/advanced

92028?

Yes, it's 92028. I might just be in the vicinity of the WCML on Tue morning ;)

028 was down to work the ECS into Glasgow tonight (5M11) then take 86401 to Mossend for repairs sometime on Monday I think (47749 doing the Glasgow ECS in the morning) before 028 heads south on the path above to Crewe on Tuesday morning.
My hunch is it's going back on the Garston-Dagenham cars, but we shall see...

Paths in for Wednesday- cheers!

As follows (all on Wednesday 6th):

0Z50 Class 66 Tow Loco Coming in from Toton:
Toton-Loughborough Brush http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01454/2017/09/06/advanced

0Z51 Loco Move Loughborough Brush to Crewe (66 + most probably 92043):
Loughborough Brush-Crewe Holding Sidings http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01507/2017/09/06/advanced (End of this path includes timings for the 66 + 92043 to reverse from the station into the siding, attach 023 and bring it out, leave 023 in the station and then run round and reverse back into the siding to leave 043 there.)

0Z52 Return Loco Move from Crewe to Loughborough Brush (66 + most probably 92023):
Crewe Holding Sidings-Loughborough Brush: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01508/2017/09/06/advanced (Start of this path includes timings for the 66 to come out of the siding (having left 043 as above) and hitch up 023 in the station before heading south.)

0Z53 Class 66 Returning to Toton:
Loughborough Brush-Toton http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01457/2017/09/06/advanced

66776 moved to Toton today (Tue) so is a candidate for the tow loco.
