if dbc keep selling locos and gbrf fleet keeps getting bigger i wonder if they have given up if they start selling locos to gbrf who must be there biggest competitor in the markets there in it would appear so i wonder if they will even let the chunnel traffic go and gbrf get there best remaing 92s and even some others they have stored possibly gbrf may even have half the fleet running again.
Some way off that happening I think, but who knows. GBRf will be kept busy for a while yet getting 14 of their own ones fully operational again.
DB haven't given up as such - just the way they've managed things has left them now in the situation where GBRf (and others) are winning the work from them
anyway (whether they hang on to the locos or not) and they're now faced with needing to recoup money on their assets (and pretty quickly) - leaving them sitting rotting even further in Toton or Crewe isn't going to get them a penny.
As DB are losing business reinstating the locos to use themselves almost certainly won't stack up. Scrap values aren't great, so becomes an economic necessity/Hobson's Choice for them to sell locos off and get some cash in that way.
With something like the 60s, they may also be able to arrange deals where they keep the maintenance work, so at least get some future income from it.
