Is that one missing a bit of the nose? If you look at the picture in post #326 it shows another one with yellow ends to the right of the photo

I expect that that one is still in the Dark Blue DRS livery and hasn't been repainted yet.

More seriously, I hope the blue/purple 'star' effect is on both ends of the loco rather than just one, otherwise it'll look a bit silly half the time...
Quite, Chiltern have quite an issue with this. If there's a specific "loco end" coach (like with Mark 4s) maybe that'll have the "star" design too?

Oh look, NO yellow ends, as I mentioned from the start.

Is there really a need for so much posing over the presence or absence of yellow ends? I have never understood how this is worthy of more than passing attention.

They tried that with Network SouthEast. The swooshes on the 50s didn't match with the coaching stock therefore the revised livery kept the horizontal lines.

As seen with the swallow 91s you need the logo and stock to blend and match but as the locos are reversible its best to have a reversible livery

The locomotives are named after British Navy vessels.

Patriot was a destroyer in WW1

I love how traditional it all is. You can just imagine kids dressed in shirt, tie and shorts with their I Spy books ticking them off.

A bit of nostalgia associated with modern kit will I think really help sell this to passengers.

"Look Dad, a proper train!"

Another planet...
I'd rather the TPE ones had names relevant to the routes/places served. The Warship thing is a bit last-century*.

*=Then again, so is loco-hauled! ;)

If they had thought about it why not pick navy vessels that were built on Merseyside or Tyneside.

The naming of the locos is DRS own doing and nothing to do with TPE, although in an internal competition I did suggest Ark Royal made a return to the main line given RO7s connections to Tyneside, however seeing an 802 share the name with 50 035 might cause some confusion.

Nice to see some class 50 names back out on the road, not that I am biased in any way....
