Its connected to the gwml but not directly to the crossrail core yet.

I don't believe the GWML has a Core connection either. I recall it being non-connected at some milestone gala semi-recently, and nothing since has indicated a change. TfL would be crowing about "the first test train fully east to west" I'm sure.

About 6 weeks ago, Crossrail announced that Network Rail had completed the connections to the core at all 3 portals:

Doesn't actually say it is operationally wired or signalled yet, but the photos suggest the bulk of the OHLE is in place.
The track-work at Royal Oak portal looks a long way from finished, but it is sort of connected.

Yeah, its connected via the Engine and Carriage or Crossrail Depot Lines to the GWML that you use to reach Portobello Junction for the Central Operating Section.

But yes the connection to the COS is still under possession.

As an observer of the work between Westbourne Park and the Royal Oak portal, I can report that the tunnels were connected to the GWML just before Christmas, the only track then to be laid were the full length of the turn back sidings. These are now complete, with the buffer stops installed. The only track now to be installed, is the final trackwork of the Marcon sidings, which extend under the bus deck.

Installation of the OHL looks also near completion. The Crossrail website reports that it will go live on 20th May.

Signalling, as shown on OTT, went live at Christmas.

My list, plucked from mine and other people's sightings and Flickr. Shows OC as having...

014, 017, 019, 020, 021, 023, 024, 025, 027, 029, 030 & 031.

This may have changed in the last few days though.

Saw this picture on twitter earlier and noticed that the leading axle was now disc braked like every other one on the train, whereas up until now every 345 I've seen has a different leading axle (although I'm not sure if it is tread braked or just a more centrally located disc). Is this just an isolated case or is this change going to be seen across the fleet?

Good spot all the original units are tread brakes on the leading axle

Two units at Wembley yard, one of them was a 7car, not sure of the other, I was about to zoom in for the numbers when the cleaner started to bundle my belongings into his bin bag because I didn't have a sign attached to my forehead saying these are my bags.

From my GA train in the morning it looks about a 60/40 split in favour of 315s. So like everyone else has said, you shouldn't have to wait too long for a 345 to turn up. It's a regular service.

I would recommend just turning up at Liverpool Street or Stratford and waiting for a few minutes as they're on loads of diagrams. You shouldn't wait long before one comes.

Did that last week. Stood on platform 8, saw one coming round the bend at Maryland, just then an eastbound Central Line tube pulled in on platform 7, had to fight my way down the stairs through half the content of the tube train, got to platform 5 stairs, had to fight my way up them through the crowd that alighted the 345 I was trying to catch. Just made it! Stratford is almost too busy to do the subway to platform dash.

Have they always shown the head code on the displays?

Also, how many train care staff members do they have? Four people with rubbish bags and litter pickers on this one and then a fifth with window cleaner polishing off any marks on the glass by the doors!

As far as I know yes, and - several - since the TfL takeover there have been quite a few cleaners working the trains on turnaround at Liverpool Street.
