I've still not heard anything. Amazes me how long it takes. I applied for Arriva (London Overground) back in March and still haven't heard from them.

There’s a huge backlog at the moment. I have been told by our HR that they’ve got courses booked up until at least November 2019.

A friend of mine who’s also a Driver at our depot said that his daughter passed all of the assessments and she cannot start until 2019.

Thanks for the info mate. Has she passed the interview too or is that regardless it’s a 2019 start at the earliest?

Ah so this whole thing is a waste of time then? Bit frustrating to say the least

Personally I wouldn’t say that. Staying in my current job with a trainee driver position to look forward to would be wonderful.

Well it would be indeed - except that we don't!

I think the frustration comes from the fact that if they are full for the next year then there doesn't seem much point in starting a recruitment campaign now. I know its wise to plan in advance but maybe the advert should have mentioned that it would be for courses in 2020 for example.

Yeah, but we’re starting to get contacted now so that’s something.

Yeah I agree GA could have noted on the advert for when the course was for, but me personally I just want a place on a course I wouldn’t mind starting next year as long as I had it in my mind to look forward to.

I think the problem we could have is even if we are given a course date, an actual contract is unlikely to be forthcoming until much closer to the time, so we could sit there waiting for the start date and then it can still get taken away

Yeah of course that’s a situation no one wants, would be cruel.

If we had just a little bit more info..

Yeah I agree, I feel like I'm putting a bit of a downer on it but unfortunately I've been through all of this before with another toc

Ah that’s fair enough if you’ve experienced it before. Hopefully this isn’t the same story!

I’ve passed all the test just need to pass a DMI, I feel so close yet so far.

It would appear that I've passed the online test and they are accepting my psychometric scores, just need to go and do the dfft as I didn't do it before and then if I pass that then I'll be offered an interview apparently

Did they contact you or did you request an update?

I requested an update, I was reluctant to do so though for fear of annoying them but I wanted an update so I can plan for family holidays etc. She was really good about it, got a date for the one test on the 7th august

That’s great news. Sally is solid gold, as are the rest of the Rec Team. Sometimes they just need a little nudge!

Did you do your dmi today?
Yeah, was a good interview I felt and the interviewers made me feel very comfortable.

But that’s not always a sure sign plus I’m not sure how many spaces there are to interviewees so will just have to wait and see.

Was told I would hear back soon, fingers crossed!

At Southend Vic as a DD you will be shunting trains between the station and sidings, prepping trains and working the signal panel. Full range of shifts, nights, earlies & lates.

Been invited for dmi today.
Only had one slot to choose from. Luckily it’s a booked day off for me.
