Those are excellent photo’s. But one question. Are the buffers meant to have a gap as in that photo’, or was the screw coupling just needing to be tightened up?
Thank you very much, I’m so pleased that you like the pictures.

Regarding the gap; the train is stood on platform 4 at York which is on a very tight curve. Missing from the first picture are the near side buffers, which are visible in the picture below, definitely in contact. It also gives a better look at the cable installed especially for use with Mk5a.

Many thanks, I was hoping it was a tight curve issue, and certainly there’s no concern about that.
If you’ve any more photo’s I’d love to see them.

Just a couple more of 5E68 at York this morning. I had hoped to get a few more of the return working, 5M68, but it was quite a sprint round from the Scarborough Bridge!

Does anybody know the emissions profile of 68+5 5A's v 2x185's?
The Caterpillar C175-16 engine in the 68 is only compliant with the old Stage IIIA exhaust emissions requirements, whereas the 802 and other new multiple units comply with the current, more stringent Stage IIIB. But the Cummins QSK19 in the 185 pre-dated all emissions requirements, so it might be expected that total emissions of particulates and nitrogen oxides from a 185 are worse than those from a 68.

Thanks for the great photos all. They make this one of the best threads on here, and I'm lucky that it just happens to cover the trains which run on "my" line.

with part of the former DRS yellow end peaking though
Not sure about that: That patch below the windscreen is above where the yellow warning panel used to be, and has always been black. The loco only seems to have gained that patch since it received TPE livery, no idea how or why.

Nice photo of the set at Piccadilly, cheers for posting these.

A busy few days with driver instructors training runs, onboard staff training and on the Wednesday some Fault Free Running.

Last post from me for a bit, due to being away on holiday. It looks like I’ll miss the inaugural runs, 900 miles away is a bit far to leap;)

Best wishes to all involved with introducing Nova 3:)

Summary of know workings, headcodes as per post #3619
As always, any additions/corrections always gratefully received:)

TPE 12 encountered a problem on its run yesterday. It remains to be seen whether this morning's incident with the sleeper at Edinburgh has any impact on TPE's plans.

Can't be many more issues now - I think we've covered the whole book of faults. Let's just see a few in traffic this year, preferably the first being this month even if on limited diagrams!

Hi Guys! Everything still on for the 5th? If so, I'll hopefully be waiting at Lime Street for the arrival :)

I was told the 9th at TPEs recent staff conference. However BMI Flyer has already posted that it has been pushed back a couple of weeks. Now with today's brake failure on the down lowlander beds who knows?..

Plenty happening at MID Longsight as i passed at 1425.
Class 68 + Mk5a set on the Up Goods.
Class 68 + Mk5a set + Class 68 on the Down Goods.
Class 47 + Barriers + Class 397 Wrapped + another loco shunting into MID by the look of it.

It's a shame that the start date has once again been put back for Nova 3.

This morning's incident was human error.
