I'm expecting our results by the end of next week. The next bit starts in December and I can't see it being over Christmas and new year.

Hey guys, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea on how often TPE recruit for trainee drivers? I only saw the ad for this the day it closed, so never even got the chance to apply.

Done both the online assessments and just waiting to hear back. Going to be tough but I've got nothing to lose; one slight advantage I have is that I already have the driver psychometrics passed at enhanced level - even though I'm in a non-driving role!
Succeed or fail, I'm happy in my current job so no pressure to succeed - I just don't want my psychometric pass results to expire and have to do them again!!!!
Good luck everyone!

Based off some others here saying that they only accept 2 years now on the tests I will have to do mine again. Ah well! If I did them once I am sure I can do them again! He says...slightly nervous, and feeling a lot older

Do application for train driver roles normally take long for a response? This is the first time that I have applied for one.

With northern it took 10 weeks for a no but with some dates on phase one and two saying December 19th surely some will hear sooner rather then later

Has anybody else got thoughts regarding a course starting in February. With testing not due to commence until the 19th December it seems unlikely that the whole process could be completed in time. There will be two testing days, a DMI, a medical and reference checks before you can hand your notice in. Given a lot of people also have to give a months notice this would seem rather tight. Notice would have to have been given by the end of December when most companies are either shut down or on very reduced staffing due to the festival of shopping that is Christmas.

I am not saying it is impossible there may be internals that have done all their testing and no doubt there will be externals that have all tests complete as well, also the course may start towards the end of the month or as soon as they fill it. I was just mulling it over and wondered what you guys thought.

I’m pretty sure Dec 19 just means dec 2019 as it also said jan and feb 20 (2020) so it could actually be any day in December

Well pointed out. This is why you should always read everything carefully. I still think the timelines are a little snug though.

Jeez calm down guys, let the process take its course
My thoughts exactly, if you've applied and completed both tests there is no point trying to figure out how the scores work etc you can't go back and change anything, whats done is done and you will either get an invite to the next stage or a sorry try again in 6 months.

There is no point posting asking if people have heard anything yet - I am sure as soon as people start to hear back it will be straight on this forum within minutes!

Best of luck to all who have applied, what happens happens and all you can do is try your best.

Sorry folks, couldn’t resist ;)

I don't expect a response any time soon, given the number of applications they will have received, and the sheer amount of depots they were advertising for!

Hello,

Like most I completed the online application and the 2 assessments and now I'm waiting to see if I am successful. I have gone onto the online application and viewed employment history. I have included my current job, one which I've held for 4 years and my previous job. For both I had completed the 5,000 character limit writing about my role and tailoring it to job spec of train driver. However, having clicked on this section, the text I had written describing regarding my current job's roles/responsibilities has disappeared. It still has the subheadings such as dates, employer, job title but no description.

I am a bit concerned as this was most relevant. There is still the text describing my previous job. Has anyone had a similar issue?

mine seems ok still, did you copy and paste it from your CV or something rather than type it out? Can’t see why that should cause a problem but perhaps it has done
