Legal names and branding are two separate issues. I was surprised recently to see a Stagecoach bus in Oxford with the legal lettering showing Midland Red (South) Ltd really a name from the past.

"West Midlands Railway operated by West Midlands Trains" sounds silly to a ridiculous degree. "ScotRail is operated by ScotTrains"
I don't get why the operator's legal name needs to be displayed on the livery at all.
Transport for Wales makes no mention of KeolisAmey on their livery. Their partnership is behind the scenes.

It happens quite a lot;
'First Great Western'
'Northern by Arriva'
'Abellio Greater Anglia'
Bear in mind that West Midlands Trains isn't the parent company in the same sense though- It is a joint venture between Abellio, JR East and Mitusi Co, none of which are mentioned on the livery.
I understand what they're doing, West Midlands Railway is a more suitable name for services in that area and London Northwestern makes sense for those services as well. In fact, London Midland did something quite similar. The services now operated by WMR were branded 'London Midland City'
I do think that the distinction between 'West Midlands Trains' and 'West Midlands Railway' can be quite confusing though, and something like London Midland Trains might have been more suitable with the two branches being WMR and LNWR.
Apologies if this is slightly off topic

The legal name of the company is West Midlands Trains Ltd who trade as West Midlands Railways and London Northwestern Railways. There is in legal terms what is know as the Veil of Incorporation so although you might know who is behind the company you are not dealing with them you are dealing with the company, in this case West Midlands Trains Ltd.

To add to the confusion there is also an organisation known as West Midlands Rail Ltd which trades as West Midlands Rail Executive and is owned by the local authorities in the wider West Midlands region.

Oh I wasn't expecting that just yet! I better get on one of the unrefurbed ones and get some shots of it before they all get redone.
Thanks for posting that info!:)

Also I've been on 350401 today and that had the 350/1 style refurb, I miss the original armchairs that were in 1st class already! :(

What is the status of the 350/4 refurbs?

I have down that

350401 is Refurbed
350402 is refurbed
350403 unknown
350404 unknown
350405 unknown
350406 unrefurbed
350407 unrefurbed
350408 is refurbed
350409 may be refurbed
350410 unknown

If anyone can help that would be great as I want to have a few trips and get a photos on these before the nice seats in 1st are gone.

Many Thanks!:)

323216 according to pictures on flickr.

Wonder if this unit going to Doncaster Works is in preparation of it going to Northern?
It's a scheduled C4 overhaul, nothing more.

Finally a station update. Longbridge has finally gained WMR signage throughout the station. First station change for quite a while.

Kidderminster still has at least 1 LM gold sign. Worcester Shrub Hill still has a couple of LM black signs.

No problem, the 350's seem a bit of a grey area on the forum so I created this thread for updates on 350's of all sub-classes -

I update the list on the 1st post whenever I find out new info or if someone reports any updates to me.

Wolverton also have some London Midland signs among the mix. Looks very shabby
As my local station, I certainly think it needs a lot of work. It needs it's platforms rebuilt as in it's current state people who are below average height really strugle to board and then the surface is really uneven too so there are trip hazzards everywhere. Some of which I've caught my foot on but haven't fell over yet! The footbridge is also looking ever more scruffy as it's really rusty in places and has really poor drainage so water sits on the bridge causing a slip hazzard and also causes more rust.

London Northwestern have done alright with what there is by giving it all a nice lick of paint but Network Rail needs to get down there at some point to carry out some works on the infrastructure itself.

I love how they’ve pulled a GWR and not bothered vinyling the rest of the train into LNR livery...

I'm just puzzled by the decision to put a piece of vinyl text over the vehicle number! I thought they were supposed to be legible? They could have moved it slightly further towards the vehicle end, and done it in white and it'd have been perfectly easy to read!
