Well done those that have video interviews. I just got my invite through too, very pleased as I wasn’t sure if I’d done well on the VR. I did the tests on Sunday morning so seems they’re doing well getting back to people. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t apprehensive about stage 2, any tips greatly appreciated although I know you can’t tell me the questions!

Hi, I've just done the assesments, I had 3 to do:

Train driver questions
Error Checking
Verbal Reasoning 1

Was there anymore you had to do? Just wondering, as I don't think I passed Verbal Reasoning...
What answers should you put most and least likely to do

Firstly, Happy new year

& Now..
I just don't understand what I do or did wrong!

Applied.. started the most and least questions

Once completed, it looked like a auto generated email as I got it instantly that I was not successful

Had a mate (from abroad still from Xmas) who was around and was actually looking at the type of questions & 'answers' and he agreed with my selection on all

Unless I am far off the correct answers I don't understand.

So frustrating!!!!

Is there anyone here who would be able to help out with the VR1? I've tried two times and got the auto generated email back twice which is gutting . Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm guessing we're way off the benchmark in terms of what they're looking for

Clearly I'm WAY WAY off.

I'm a London bus driver and can't seem to answer basic questions so I might need to consider my job role.

Any help from any of you would be appreciated... I see 2 positions up so I'd just apply for the other one to try my luck.

I've done a fair few verbal reasoning tests but this one is definitely a lot more complex. I guess this is how they sift out the good from the bad but it's such a good opportunity to miss out on. I've tried twice and failed on the VR1 twice so I'm gonna try it one last time but any help from those that have passed would be a god send!

they threw in at least one red herring. Something about passenger alarms and platforms. I dare say that question is the one catching people out, or potentially the old dear on the platform. The questions are hard but the most/least sliders part is the easiest bit, it only gets harder from there.

there's nothing stopping you from applying with a different email address and having another crack at it

if you've done the error checking then the VR is the last stage. Read the passage for every question, you have time.

if it is true it'll say so.

if it is false it'll say so.

if it is neither it won't be there.

Right.. I'll definitely take another crack at it once I'm back from work tonight.

That elderly questions is interesting.. What is the right answer? Or what do you think is the right answer?
As the question also mentions late running trains get fined...

as a driver your priorities should be

1. Safety
2. Performance
3. customer service

in that order. that should help you

safety is paramount, you potentially have 500+ people on board making sure you're fit for work is a huge thing, there are a couple of questions about that.

if any of that helps you succeed let me know. I've passed all the assessments and while I won't share answers I am happy to guide people to where the right place is

That's the order I followed.
As a bus driver I used the same logic in terms of if unwell call it off.

I'll give it another go. & I'll let you know how it goes this time around

How are people having several attempts at these tests, isn’t it against the rules of the application?

There are 2 open jobs.

I've applied for one. Now I'm just gathering as much information I can before I attempt the next one.

They are making the application process pointless by learning the answers rather than being the correct person for the position, and likely preventing someone else more deserving getting the job. And some are just applying for both jobs even though they are at other ends of the country. Thankfully, there is usually someone from the TOC recruitment team on here and will gather info posted.

Agreed NothernTech - I’m sure they’ll have a system in place to pick up applicants applying over and over again. If you haven’t passed. Why don’t you practice Verbal Reasoning and Error Checking online - There’s plenty of resources online. Ready for the next opportunity.

Basically this, if your booked spare for the week (remembering we do up to 7 days rostered on the trot on some lines in the link) you can and will be constant minimum rest time going from lates to earlies visa versus where allowed.

A lot of people just see the money on the east coast. Our T&C’s compared to the majority of other TOC’s are pretty crap and I would seriously suggest doing your research before coming over if you are already qualified.
Very well put and factual.

Probably slightly biased but I believe Northern have the best T&C currently.

I wouldn’t worry about that. This is the very first step of a long and demanding course. As you may know, they will be found out eventually.

I’d imagine they are using multiple email addresses but yeah, hopefully something is in place to catch the dishonest applicants. Like you say, loads of help out there if you want it and loads of info on this forum if people care to search it out and spend time to read it.

Hello. Does anyone know how many tests and what types of tests are there online? So far I did two different tests, first one about "train driver scenario", second about concentration to check if there are any mistakes with numbers, letters and today I would be doing the "verbal reasoning test". Is it the last one are there many other tests to do online immediately? Thanks

theres 3 onlines assessments, the most likely/least likely one, the error checking one, and the verbal reasoning one. after that if successful youll recieve a video interview request. they will send you an email regardless if youre sucessful or not

Thank you. I have received an email saying I should complete the assessment within three days from receiving that email. So I received the email on the 8 of January in the morning. For "within three days" does it mean until 23.59 of 11 of january(today)? Thanks

Hi all,

I'll be completing my video interview soon. Any tips, as this is my first one? What sort of questions are there - the usual ones?

Thanks

Has anyone done the video interview on a phone? I know it says you shouldn’t but I only have a work laptop and I worry that me recording an interview will somehow turn up on the shared network which wouldn’t be good!
