Hi there, Did you apply for the G6 WMSC role then and assuming from your message; you had an interview last Monday? Have you heard back?
Had a interview Wed morning, nothing back yet. As i said, not expecting anything back till the end of the month at earliest

Not my first time too, done plenty of applications, it is slow and lots of considering, but also they are busy people, so recruitment can go onto the back burner if they have training or things to sort out

Fair enough! Good Luck with your application and hope it’s good news for you! Given you’ve done it a few times; hopefully it means you’ve managed to get confident with their assessments. Keep us updated!

I was told to expect a answer in 2 weeks (from today, was 3 weeks from last week when i had my interview), so if you've not got a rejection, hopefully good news, or even a reserve list.

I’m thinking the same, can only hope it is good news as each day passes

Hello, I’ve just passed the first written assessment at signalling school. Week 7 coming up. Just wanted advice on what the second final written assessment is like compared to the 1st.
How did you find the week 6? What was the content like? We have week 6 next week and I'm struggling to find a way to revise that works for me effectively

You had any news today? I was told during my interview (last Tuesday morning) I'd hear back by today, but nothing.
Same here I was hoping to have heard something

But I understand it’s a long process and patience is key!

All I can say is , no news at this moment is good news!

Hi,

I had my interview for a grade 2 position the other week. It went well, but unfortunately I wasn't chosen. They've said that I'm now in a shortlist for a position if something comes up.

Can anyone tell me the likelihood of being offered a position if you're on a shortlist?
I was a little bit disappointed at first but Im going to be positive and keep my eye out for available jobs that arise in my area.
Hi, I was offered a position after being put on reserve, so it does happen. Good luck

@mdfc @ShebQ Did both of you ask as to when you’d hear back? I think it seems everyone was told different things as @ArkUTD was told 2/3 weeks! I guess if they’re still confirming starting dates for IST and things then it could be a while for anyone to hear back but I imagine everyone would find out by the end of this week.

Is the outcome, either way, always by email? Did the person you know @ShebQ ask for feedback as they seemed to have had the ‘unsuccessful’ response very quickly? Also, it could be possible that they’re interviewing this week also?

@starlight yes, I emailed on Friday for an update and was told currently under review and they hope the team will be able to provide an answer of the next week

I will ask the person I know if they asked for feedback

@ShebQ Yeah, I do imagine it would take them a while to shortlist candidates and things so as you’ve said; just got to be patient and await the outcome!

Yes, would be good to know as I feel I was surprised to hear someone heard ‘unsuccessful’ so quickly. Did they do all parts of the application process and felt they performed reasonably well or do you not know them personally?

That’s the positive thing at the moment for most of us if we are this far in and others have been told their unsuccessful, can only be positive and assume no news this long is good news and have a good chance of being successful.

Yes I will ask them it was a close friend of mine was really gutted for them as it would have been a good opportunity together however they arnt beat up. They didn’t feel compelled confident but they had hope

To be honest with you guys, you just have to wait @ShebQ @starlight . It is a extremely slow process, and they won't have worked out IST till they know who they want and where they could be sent due to there living location (As I understand). Plus once you get the "Yes we want you" you still have to do the medical and background checks to get through, which is were I fell down last time due to being hard of hearing in my right ear (Medical reason). In all took 4 weeks to work out after I got the yes we want you....so still a long way to go.

Just be positive they haven't said no yet, but just keep your eyes out of any other roles just in case!

I'd expect start dates of mid July or after really, if they got moving at there original time scale.

Thanks for that @ArkUTD you are right its a long process!

Are you a signaler currently? or going through the recruitment process again?

July time was what i was told or may even be pushed forward or earlier according to my interviewer - depends on how quick they can get through this stage

I found week 6 a bit of an eye opener to be honest. You do have to be precise with your answers on it. I found the best way to revise (for me) was to sit there with my classmates and just go round and round in circles asking questions from Brucie’s quizzes (if you’ve got those). Eventually you’ll get so bored of reeling off your 3.4.1 and whatnot that it will be second nature. If not then just write out the rules over and over again. Make up rude or funny mnemonics for the lists you need to remember maybe? Good luck anyway!

Going through the recruitment process again haha, been trying for a year and a bit, got a few interviews and 2 reserve lists, but not a job, this was down to my medical condition that i couldn't work alone, so trying for a ROC is my best chance

Question - Are there any specific policies on tattoos for a signaller?
No there isn’t a formal written policy so visible tattoos and/or piercings are generally no problem. There are loads of tattooed signallers, MOMs and LOMs (and OMs!). That being said, as per above post, turning up to the interview with a swastika on your forehead is unlikely to land the job. But I guess that’s true of a lot of employers.

Hi all,

Anyone on here with knowledge of Cornish signal boxes that are still in operation?

My understanding is that there are boxes at:

- Penzance
- St. Erth
- Truro
- Par
- St Austell
- Liskeard

Anyone know of any others?

Hi

I had my interview in February and was told I passed it but had been unsuccessful and on a reserve list.

I had the phone call confirming that I was in 3 weeks ago
