I sampled Crossrail today, and it certainly was put to use for the Comic-Con event at Excel. All sorts of wierd and wonderful characters travelling on the Elizabeth Line today, which was a great atmosphere. The sort of crowds that the DLR really can’t cope with, so Crossrail is useful for the big events there.
I know some have commented that toilets should be on the trains, which I can certainly understand why. However, with the absolute state of the Thameslink train toilets on every occasion I’ve needed to use one, perhaps it’s good they are not on there. I found toilet facilities easy to find at Paddington, Canary Wharf and Abbey Wood. I’m not sure about the other stations, but with trains not having toilets hopefully all stations, particularly on the core, have toilets.
I found all the information, signage, staff all really well designed and helpful. A shame TfL have given up with this on their bus network!
It is such a relief to be able to travel across London on a modern S-Bahn style line with much larger trains and platforms. Of course, we have Thameslink, but this is a big improvement on that. I’ve not yet reached my thirties, but due to my disability I struggle with stairs (meaning large sections of the Tube can be really hard work), so it just felt a breeze travelling on Crossrail.
