I presume that 805005 got dragged to Oxley by 56081, to save fuel for the class 805 or was it down to not being passed for the route to Oxley from Merchant Park Sidings?

Yes it was dragged to Oxley by 56081. 805005 should be officially handed over to Avanti by Friday (so I'm told).

it got dragged as the GBRF drivers who moved it from Merchant Park most likely don’t sign 805s.

Regards clearance it’s irrelevant whether it was dragged or moved under its own power.

Finally seen 805005 at Oxley and I must say it looks good in the AWC livery.
that's as maybe... when are we likely to see any of these in service? I am getting worried that Avanti will lose its Voyagers with nothing ready to replace them. We already have a thinned-out service,so more trains are really needed now.

First one in service 18th December I’ve heard, 9G08 08:16 Euston to New Street is what I’ve been told to watch out for!

That seems quite confident, though I hope that’s correct as it should hopefully work out rather well for me!

Looks like an end-of-year deadline to escape penalties, then... ;)
I think the last such was the TPE effort to get new rolling stock (the Pretendolino) into service before the franchise commitment of the end of 2017.
Is this being too cynical?

If you’ve heard correctly, perhaps all Voyagers gone by May. Seems a reasonable enough target.
It’s from a usually very reliable source (not platform dribble or mess room chat).

As we all know, dates may move forward or backwards.

Units up to 805010 have been seen outside at Aycliffe factory, that would imply the remaining 3 are complete and in test. So a fairly quick introduction once staff training ups its pace is possible.

I know you are only referring to the Avanti ones going off lease but a sentence of "all voyagers gone by May" is such an exciting sentence to read

The 5/10-car class 221 Voyagers have been the backbone of Chester/North Wales-London services for more than 20 years, with fastest ever journey times.
Let's hope the replacements are as good.

Presently there isn't any 125 north of Crewe without EPS/tilt.

It was mentioned of plans to change that for the classic compatible HS2 trains, as they won't tilt, but as yet nothing has come of it.

South of Crewe a new MU speed profile up to a 125mph ceiling is being developed for the Avanti 805/807s, mostly it'll be MU115/120 in what are currently EPS 125 sections but there will be some 125.
So trains are late yet NR presumably are still developing the MU speed profile!

There are others on here better informed as to how that is progressing, but the last any of them had posted on the subject of the new MU speed profile was that it had still to be signed off.

Obviously for 80x to keep time with the intended schedules, these increased permitted speeds are needed.

What speeds and what speed profile are they currently using while testing on the WCML?
Someone else is welcome to correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe they’ve been doing some testing under the proposed new MU profile.

Its PS, but MU Rugby - Stafford via West Mids and EPS Rugby - Stafford via Trent Valley. Can’t run at MU as no boarding in place and no driver training for it yet.

Still no word as to when it's physically implemented?

For instance could or would it be 'live' for May? Is there even a set deadline for it?
Apparently Euston - Rugby being prioritised and will be done by December
