I like that a lot! I like the Regional Railways 101 and as Cowley says the logs look really convincing! Good use of space too managing to effectively get two layouts in oneIt's still very much a work in progress and, due to being in a cellar, lighting levels aren't ideal for photography but I can rustle up a few recent shots that give an overall look.
Crianlarich-ish through station along one side of a continuous loop with a fiddle yard along the opposite side (and partially screened from view from the scenic side). Island platform with passing loop on a single track line, with separate freight facilities for timber loading at one end and handling Speedlink traffic in the old goods shed at the other. Note that there are semaphore signals here, rather than assuming RETB has superseded them in the 1992-3 period I operate to, because semaphore signals are just more fun, and help to focus the mind as reassurance that I have set routes correctly while operating the schedule.

Separate branch off the loop, leading up the back wall of the cellar (past a modest freight terminal) and curving round to a Fort William-esque, slightly Buxton-ish terminus with small loco servicing depot that's just about justified by the traffic levels. Long double-faced island platform for passengers, shorter bays at the back of the station cater for Motorail and parcels traffic. Lots of work still to do here, it's only half ballasted at present and the platforms were only recently surfaced.

What on earth was it that you did in your former life that was so atrocious? These things often get out of hand. For instance I only joined this forum to ask a couple of questions…
I'm fortunate to have found (just about) enough space to be able to follow the 'system layout' approach as it's traditionally known, where a terminus can be linked to a fiddle yard via at least one intermediate through station with a bit of a clear run between them. Mine essentially takes the form of a mirrored figure of 6.I like that a lot! I like the Regional Railways 101 and as Cowley says the logs look really convincing! They'll look much nicer with a BR blue class 20 at each end, but they don't seem to come up on eBay very often.....

I've always been fond of Lima's class 101. A good likeness, and mine runs very smoothly. It's employed on the leisurely "Railcar" diagram, inspired by the 'Mexican Bean' class 104 unit that plied its trade between Crianlarich and Oban during the second half of the eighties.
Another couple of items for my featureless oval with no points......like any sensible TOC I'm building a fleet before incurring track access charges! (Or perhaps the room is still under construction ....! )
After bemoaning the scarcity of N Gauge Class 20s, I managed to find one in a model shop in deepest Norfolk, which arrived yesterday. It appears to be in as new, unused condition, with pristine box and unopened detailing pack. DCC 6 ready. Pretty chuffed!

And despite my nominal layout date being 1st Jan 1981, I just couldn't resist this.
I know it's very much an issue of personal taste, as I see from the other things posted on this thread, but in my opinion, a class 47 looks great in 2-tone green with SYEs, so I got one. It can be my 'railtour' loco, and perhaps I'll add a few heads to the windows of a couple of my Mk1s!
Again, in top condition with perfect box and unopened buffer beam accessories. From Hattons.

There must have been a few punters turning out for that working!Love that. 20063 was one of the ones that famously ran shuttles on the Matlock branch in the early 1990s top and tailed with another 20 on four coach rakes of mk2s.
Will you be keeping it as that or are you thinking about renumbering it?
Definitely very popular. There must have been a few punters turning out for that working!
Perhaps a little Westie on one of the doors..?I'm not massively keen on those yellow chevrons, so I think I'll remove these and renumber it to one of the dual braked ED early numbered ones. 20027 was a very common appearance round my patch back then, so I think I'll go with that.
I absolutely think you should get another one.Call me greedy or indulgent, but I'd really like another centre headcode one, so I can renumber it to one of the HA slow speed fitted ones (216 to 227).
Please do not encourage me ...I need to eat and pay utility bills, etc.!I absolutely think you should get another one.
Lovely. It's impossible not to love an A4 in that condition. And it's impossible to have too many Gresley PacificsView attachment 145683
Rails of Sheffield second hand.
This one makes four...Lovely. It's impossible not to love an A4 in that condition. And it's impossible to have too many Gresley Pacifics
On the RMWeb forum, I recall a thread with a 4mm modeller who has one of every A4!This one makes four...
Blimey! Next job is getting every member in every livery! On the RMWeb forum, I recall a thread with a 4mm modeller who has one of every A4!
wouldn't mind a review of those units compared with their class 411 / 410sLooks like the Bachmann 4-TEPs have arrived and being sent out today
Usually the modelling secretary of the SEG does reviews - so we'll seewouldn't mind a review of those units compared with their class 411 / 410s
Indeed and only a temporary sub-class at that.An odd unit to make considering it was only used in service about 3 years if that
Actually I forgot to check. I just had a quickie look over to check there was no damage during transitThe TEP looks great. Is it mechanically still the same as the earlier models or have they changed / moved the motor? Quite a large motor unit was fitted to the older models, but it was fine as it was in the brake compartment.
