Thanks , funny enough someone else on here pointed me to the direction of this, so good to see it’s popular.
Each to their own, when I did my vse last year I went in blind as focusing on what they'd practiced than what was Infront of them.

The only test I actually practiced was the GBT as I'd heard the practice was harder than the actual test.

Just completed the VSE. I believe I got every error on part 1. I got roughly 126/140 on part 2 and part 3 I was probably focused too much on the right Column. So I’ve failed unfortunately but good luck to everyone attempting it !!
The sim? Or the actual test? How do you know you’ve failed?

The actual test. I’ve just got that gut feeling.

I’ve also realised even if I did pass, I’d fail the assessment centres medical as I’m mildly colour blind.
Wait till you’ve gotten that official email, you never know but fingers crossed for you.

Just received the visual search test, just wanted to ask. If successful will this test need to be redone in the test center? I'm someone who finds doing tests alot easier at home in a quiet place lol, also what other potential tests Will I have to do at the test center?

You don't re-do any test, you just do different ones.

If you complete the at-home tests you'll be invited to an assessment day spread over one day or two days (TOC dependant)

Those tests will include:
  • Group Bourdon Test
  • TEA-OCC
  • TRP 1
  • TRP 2
  • WAFV
  • ATAVT
  • 2 Hand Coordination
If you pass all those tests you'll then do a MMI, then pass that you'll usually do a DMI but some TOC's do DMI first.

There's no such thing really as 'enhanced' and 'standard' so you shouldn't get too hung up on what those definitions mean. Different TOCs use different tests according to what they consider useful as part of their recruitment process. TOC A classed as 'advanced' might use different tests than TOC B who are also classed as 'advanced', for example.

Chiltern use the standard suite of tests plus the VSE, that's basically all you need to know.

I think officially there's no standard or enhanced, there is a national standard with the tests, so you can pass to standard but not the standard of the TOC you're applying to.

Consider standard as a national pass and enhanced as you need a higher score to pass with that TOC.

There is also both enhanced and national on the normal tests.

Not necessarily, no. Additional tests used will also be the difference between 'national / standard' and 'enhanced'.
Must be confusion between even the OPC then because the people I had at ours said about national standard but ours was enhanced merely because it involved more tests in the process and the pass threshold was higher.

I’ve not applied for this toc myself but a mate of mine has, so was just wondering how they’d be scored on the assessments.

So does Chiltern not do the VSE again at the Assessment center? I thought Arriva Overground however did?

Enhanced can mean a higher pass mark than National standard, or additional test/tests, or both.

I’m still waiting for tests and wondering why it’s taking so long to be honest as a lot of people seem to have got them already.

I’m not sure how they go about sending them out so hopefully they come sooner or later.

Good luck to everyone who’s have arrived though and look forward to hearing about the next steps.

Strange. I’m pretty sure you can contact them to find out.

OPC assessments are on the 13th and 14th of this month for those that are successful.

Anyone recon we’ll hear back today ?

I applied on the 11th or the 12th, was told they had received my application and that they would be in contact within 2 to 4 weeks.

How far have you got through the process thus far? Have you passed the initial sift and been informed you will need to complete the VSE as the next stage, for example?
I wondered about this, don’t they give everyone the opportunity to complete the VSE ?

Ahh so more than likely we’ll get the results next week

Thanks for the heads up.

hoping I get a VSE invite soon, I’m 45 minutes commute and I currently work on the railway and it’s not like there was any online tests so can’t think of why I would not get an invite, but we shall see.

Fingers crossed
