Bellingham is a very intelligent man for 20 years old and has all the potential to be a world beater.
He got quite frustrated with the lack of ball time and was dropping too deep - just one of those psychological things that affects hungry forwards but I'm surprised he wasn't shouted at to stay in the centre circle.

Yeah, its not a style of play he is yet fully comfortable with, his instinct will always be to drop deeper to start playmaking. Hopefully he can settle in a bit more for the next two games, because behind Bellingham looked supreme. There's goals in the England team, we just need to bed in with the system. We won't be facing a back 5 for every game so I'm still hopeful of decent progress.

Just shows no team can take a win for granted. There's few poor teams at this level of competition. Although Scotland did attempt to try and prove this incorrect.

couldn't be much worse! it still wasn't great and without a half decent striker you will struggle. Qualification is still going to be hard. Scotland had a great run in qualification but that is long gone and form is pretty poor.

Indeed so, when you reach the actual tournament, there will be better teams to face than those faced in the qualifying period.

Scotland beat Spain in qualification.
Scotland will always brush up against their natural limitations; it doesn't matter if you have 3-4 excellent players, once you get people like Porteous and Ralston in the squad who play second tier football (and that is charitable in Ralston's case!) you end up committing too many errors. Shaqiri is a class act and punished Ralston's mistake superbly.

Wouldn't surprise me at all and also wouldn't surprise me if the FA obliged him. He seems to have a very high opinion of himself for someone that has achieved nothing in the game.

Ralston is reserve right back at Celtic to Alistair Johnston, who is at Copa America with Canada. So you are quite right but perhaps not in the way you intended. And he'll be on the bench at the very least in the Champions League group stages next season. Again.

Spain v Italy was a great game, Spain easily the better team. Only thing that spoilt it was the constant rolling around on the floor holding their heads (yes Spain i'm looking at you) like they'd been punched by Tyson Fury.

I would agree; He seems incapable now of getting the best out of the many talented players at his disposal. In particular, how is Cole Palmer not getting a game, after the season he had? Bizarre team selection, tactics and substitutions.

Play for a scrappy win in the first game to get points on the board. Then play for a draw in the second to virtually guarantee progression into the next round. Probably scrape another draw in the third game. All the while playing as if they are a poor team with no ideas. Lull the opposition into a false sense of security.

Yep, he clearly isn't learning from previous lessons. Serbia showed that we can't sit back too deep trying to defend a single goal lead, so what did Southgate do? Exactly the same. Once the dust has settled at the end wherever we end up, I think its time for him to call it a day.
I just burst out laughing when I heard him say that.
Unfortunately too many players are being asked to play in positions and / or in a way that they are not used to, thanks to Southgate's over-defensive tactics. We know this squad has goals in it, lots and lots of goals, but we ain't going to get them sitting so deep and inviting pressure.

Time and time again we accomodate the best eleven by asking them to play in positions they don't play for their clubs while players who are a better fit for the system are left on the bench or, worse still, left out of the squad completely.
Have honestly never got why people love Southgate so much. A manager whose main weakness is making big tactical calls at crucial moments; completely unsuited to winning tournaments.
