For those interested, I've gone through and listed all relevant changes to peak time running boards.

7 - The timetable has seen some tweaks to the peak journeys. In the morning, the board is now a singular trip from Newhaven to the Royal Infirmary.
A new afternoon peak bus is introduced. The runs it does is unclear but it looks to stay on for the rest of the day.
9 - Morning journey that comes off X31 is now run by Marine. Afternoon journey introduced to Muirhouse coming off a peak 11 to Kaimes (extended from Fairmilehead). Afternoon run that becomes an X31 is now run by Marine. Afternoon run that becomes a 44 is now run by Longstone.
11 - Morning peak Kaimes to Tollcross is now run by Marine before forming a 15. Afternoon Fairmilehead to Western Harbour comes off a peak 15 run by Marine.
15 - The same vehicle which comes off the 11 at Tollcross in the morning now becomes an X26 in the afternoon.
In the morning, one X31 now changes into a 15 before deadrunning to Marine from Bush. The run that does the school 46 > 15 > X31 in the afternoon is also now run by Marine. The 18:45 departure from Marine comes off a 21.
19 - New peak journey from Eastfield to Granton before forming an X37 in the afternoon operated by Marine.
22 - All peak runs (minus short XLB to Edinburgh College) are run by Longstone as expected.
24 - Afternoon peak bus introduced starting from Royal Infirmary operated by Central.
25 - Additional afternoon Longstone peak run before forming 16:45 X29. This used to come off a peak school 11.
33 - New peak run from Haymarket to RIE run by Central coming off their only X44.
44 - As mentioned, the peak bus that comes off a 9 in the afternoon is now Longstone run.
45 - New peak journey Elm Row > Heriot-Watt > Bristo Square run by Central before forming the last X47.
46 - As mentioned, the afternoon school bus is now Marine run.
49 - Central morning peak journey replaced by a longer Craigentinny to RIE run operated by Marine.
X29 - Longstone replace afternoon Central run, coming off new peak 25.
X31 - Almost entirely Marine run minus one morning journey.
X33 - All morning journeys are now Longstone run.
X37 - Almost entirely Marine run minus one morning journey.
X44 - Morning run that became a 24 now becomes a 33 (as 24 had a frequency boost). Still run by Central.

What is the range of the BZLs? Noticed 706 has been out since 6:30 this morning running the 9 and is likely to be out for over 17 hours.

Presumably Lothian are trying to find that out!
Stagecoach in Kilmarnock's Single Deck BZLs have quite impressive range, they see service on the 4 from Ayr to Glasgow regularly these days, I know the deckers Lothian have may be slightly less due to weight and stuff like that but I think they're one of the better EVs out there for range

The app and website are both showing no journeys on the 400 for today or tomorrow (I haven't checked further in advance), am I correct in assuming this is an error?

This is no doubt a mistake. This will need flagging as soon as possible. Its incorrect on all sources.

The last time I drove 997 I took it in after a 14 hour day with 51-52% charge. That was in July though so I imagine range will be less during the coming winter months.

14 hours with just over 50% charge left is impressive! Going by the eye test the new BZLs may be slightly heavier but sounds like they could potentially go all day in winter given there’s no extreme weather.

It might seem like an odd idea, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Lothian ordered a further 6 BYDs (295-300). Whether they’d have SPEN branding or normal Lothian branding, who knows.
It would be odd if we gained a BYD out of nowhere. They would keep the wraps they've got, especially because Lothian don't "own" these buses.

Hopefully it will be repainted into the new livery if it’s staying. I was thinking the other day that 700 would be a good number for it.

[Pure Speculation] but perhaps 700 (ex 997) has been acquired as compensation for the issues with the order.

Not without precedent, not sure about Lothian but Cardiff Bus received S861VAT (Pointer 1 SPD) as compensation for numerous warranty issues with the first SPDs. Maybe it was the plan all along though, as it was delivered to Lothian spec?

That was always my thought too. Though if it’s staying, it would be strange not to bring it up to the same standard as the new ones.
I imagine it will have an interior refit when it goes away for paint to bring it up to the standard of the rest. Would be strange if it was the odd one out.

Be interesting to see if it carries a variation of the livery with the glass staircase and the differing lower deck window layout on the nearside.

I think the window layout is the same. It’s just a vinyl that is over the small vertical one midway along. I’d imagine the livery would just be the same.

700e on the bus, yes. The new buses track without the e suffix though. 700 is still tracking as 997 for now.

701 and 705 escaped onto the 31 this evening, nice to see them being used out of the city so soon.

Now the Volvo’s are rolling out in service, when is the remaining 40 due to appear and any idea of the routes?

would imagine they will spread across further routes on Sundays to maximise their use.

Managed to ride on 704 today, here are brief first impressions/things I found interesting:

- While the speakers are a downgrade and the font/layout on the PIS is a bit off, I like the moving map- on the 24 this also displayed the section that was closed due to roadworks
- This might just be because it’s still brand new (several passengers remarked on the ‘new bus smell’), but the floors do not offer much grip in comparison to the rest of the fleet
- They appear to have small holes at the back of the upper deck- for drainage maybe?
- I agree that the pale white poles are a downgrade
- The seat arrangement at the back on the upper deck is a new one for me, I can see them becoming quite popular
- It would be nice if the ‘stop button’ buzzer could be changed to a recording of a bell like on the E400s
- The driver seemed to be having an issue with the bus, there was a steady warning from the cab which said “bus in gear, please apply handbrake”

- The irony of being followed closely by 926 on the same route was not lost on me

Overall these buses seem pretty solid to me so far. The one potential issue I can see is just capacity, but for quieter routes they seem to be a decent fit. I wonder if Lothian plan on placing an order for tri-axle EVs when a suitable product exists.
