It might be legal now though - as copyright has a limit of 60 years.

I listen to (in order of amount) BBC Radio 4 (sometimes even on LW), BBC Radio London, Classic FM and occasionally Capital (London), though I wouldn't choose it.

My main listening is to Radio 4, with Radio Cymru being my alternate station. I often tune to Radio 3 on summer evenings (Prom season), and Classic FM at Christmas. Digital (DAB) radio doesn't get much of a look in, but I rummage through BBC iPlayer Radio online now and again. (Mainly comedy from Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, Radio 2 or Radio Wales.)

Yes, Heart is owned by Global and is the most extreme case of Global Radio networking and extreme blandness. At least 20 local stations have been lost to the Heart brand.

Classic FM is also part of Global now, as they note at the start of each news flash.

I don't. I stream music instead. I find it's much better to do that. I'll choose what I want to listen to, and don't have to worry about adverts or a presenter that I don't like. If I do have the radio on (usually a short car journey) it'll be Classic FM for the music, and I'll try and ignore the presenters (who I swear live on another planet).

I used to listen to BBC Radio Scotland for the news programs in the rush hour, but it's been many years since I regularly drove in Scotland when they were broadcast.

Radio 4 for Minute, Clue, Dead Ringers and other comedy shows. Also, I listen to Radio 5 Extra during an England cricket game.

Adds to my list - Radio Lancashire on 885am have full commentary on almost all of Lanky's games in addition tot he web coverage, comes in handy when I'm out in the old banger.

BBC Radio 4 (even though the number of times they repeat certain programmes within the same week gets annoying sometimes).

LBC, BBC Five Live Sports Extra for the cricket and formula 1 and BBC 5 Live for the often interrupted Formula 1. I use to listen to Radio 2 some evenings but less so now. I also use to listen to Saturday Live on radio 4 but less so now.

On Christmas eve I listen to some kf the Austrian Regional radio stations and some Bavarian ones as they the Australian and Bavarian Volksmusik. I love listening to it.

I'd like more of the BBC live video coverage of events to be available as audio only as I end up having to out the video on whilst working in order to listen to something.

Haven't listened to the radio in years.

Relieved to learn that I'm not the only one. It became clear to me long ago, that I found being yattered at or music-ed at out of the ether, intensely annoying. (Just a personal thing -- mileages vary, different strokes, etc.)

I'm always flicking between different stations in my car trying to find a station actually playing music rather than a constant stream of adverts or talking. On my presets are Radio 1, Radio X, Capital, KISS, Absolute and Heart.

Kiss and Radio X taking precedence over the rest.

Same for me, I flick between Sam FM, Spire FM, Castledown Radio, The Breeze and Heart. Mainly for music rather than talking or adverts

Solar on DAB. Almost no adverts, no idiotic phone ins or news/travel just the best soul music. Supurb bit rate & DJ's who care about the music.

looks like I'm the only radio 1 listener then :P

I don't think Radio 1 is aimed at the likes of me anymore, there was a time when it was listened to by kids and parents alike. We as a family used to go to the Radio 1 roadshows around the south west in summer (and it was always sunny!) and if you were lucky it was Steve Wright and his zany antics. I can't listen to him now though without wanting to chew my own arm off.

Radio 5
Radio 5 extra
Radio 4
Occasionally Radio 2

I listen to commercial stations (Aire/TFM/Heart) when with the boss as she like she likes them. I find the presenters annoying and inane and the music carp.

When I'm in the car (and not listening to CDs) it's usually Radio 4, unless it's The Archers - then it's either Radio 2 or Radio Scotland.

I listen to a lot of 4 Extra programmes on iPlayer, mainly the comedy.

In order of preference:

Absolute
BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 5 Live
Forgot to add BBC Radio 3 but only for Late Junction when I'm on night shift.

Not much of a radio person, as I'm really tired of endless Muzak, and the news irritates me, although Bob Robert's show on BBC Radio Surrey, from 9pm to midnight on a Sunday, is a pleasure to listen to. Especially if you're a fan of 20 - 30s gramophone records.

BBC Radio 1
BBC Radio 5 Live
BBC Radio 5 Extra
BBC 6 Music
BBC Radio 2 on a Saturday night if we're at home.

I really don't like commercial radio although I do occasionally listen to Talk Sport if they're covering an interesting game.

Some of you maybe interested to know that Steve Lamacq (of Radio 1 and 6 Music fame) is a keen railway modeller.

Odd bit of R4/R4X, R2
BBC Radio Solent (a good station with a good mix of music and talk)
Wessex FM (generally acceptable to listen too, it the main local radio station for the area)
Sam 106.0 (good music)
Wave 105 (no networked programming which I like, so whilst it serves a wide area it's a real local radio station)
The Breeze (difficult to pick up but seems to play a good mix of music)
I try to avoid Heart due to the loss of many local radio stations (even if a lot of the output was networked).
Basically anything I can receive that has listenable to music, listen to Absolute 80's the odd time on DAB but the signal round here is rubbish.

Planet Rock. I find anything else almost unlistenable. Even Radio 4 seems full of opinionated arguments, so the calming tones of Lemmy, Ian Gillan, Blackie Lawless or Mad Uncle Ted Nugent soothe me through my downtime and lull me to sleep quite sufficiently.

They don't like it when I put it on in the Messroom tho, heathens.

Haven't listened to that since we had it on in the office all day, everyday. You can blame Simon "Our Tune" Bates, Gary "Bleeding'" Davies, Steve "Oh shut the f*** UP" Wright.

Tommy Vance and John Peel were the only ones who didn't make me ears bleed.

If you remember when those people were on Radio 1 then it highly unlikely to be to your taste today! Although it is less cheesy than it was then.

In the morning Radio Argovia or SRF3.

Quite often listen to classic rock stations like Planet Rock or Absolute Classic Rock at night or Jazz FM and Radio Swiss Jazz. The morning ones are all on DAB while the others are on internet.
