I have no idea of the veracity of this but I’m hearing a rumour that the 365s will be leaving the ScotRail fleet at the end of March/start of April...
Hasn’t that always been expected? Back in January people expected them to be returned in a few months...

that would be about the year up. Hope they have all the 385s and trained drivers before then.

Will they need to unmodify them prior to returning to the ROSCO? Seems pointless if they're only for scrap but....

They won’t be scrapped. No leasing company is going to scrap a fleet of reliable half-life refurbished accessibility compliant units. The ScotRail short-notice lease proves such units have a value. But for lacking in-cab CCTV one wonders if they might have found similar use on Barking-Gospel Oak.

Of course, a nice use for them would be to scrap the second Cambridge/Brighton and replace with a Cambridge/KX, and do the same with one of the Peterborough/Horsham hourly services. Most GN users are bemused as to why their modern comfortable trains have been replaced by smelly Tube / bendybus trains which often don’t turn up on time!

Class 365s go back to GN with Class 387s sub-leased to TfL could get around that one, but there seems no urgency for TfL sorting out those problems and to be honest its disgraceful.

Slightly off topic here but I was on board a 318 this evening into Glasgow QS LL. It’s normally 334s on my line but of course 318s and 320s are common on Balloch services. It’s odd because I’m actually a fan of the 318s I mean they’re good units especially after being refurbished - they look pretty decent.

My partner of whom I was with made a comment “oh that’s an older train” and he isn’t an enthusiast or anything like that so he has no idea. It did make me think however, no matter how much they’ve tarted up the 318s - they still look like older units. They lack that modern vibe that is conveyed on the 334s, 380s and 385s. It’s odd. I don’t know if it’s the non airliner seats, the slide doors. I’m not 100% sure but they are visibly older. Then I remembered they’re actually a fair age now. About 33 years old actually. Compared to units like the 318s, the 365s are fairly modern so it would be bizarre for them to even be considered for scrap.

I don’t think the 365s are quite as good as made out on here but it would be a shame to see them go to scrap.

314203 was moved into the siding at Shields alongside the mothballed 365 and stored 314201 + 314206 earlier today. Not sure if this means the unit is being withdrawn. It’s pan was still up.

Which 365 has been mothballed just for reference?

Alex Hynes has tweeted that ScotRail intend to replace the 365s ‘within the coming weeks’.

In that case I'll need to get my finger out...still to "bag" one.

Assume he's inferring that 385s are doing the replacement...if not, any ideas what's coming instead?

Interesting given theres still no electric traction on the Glasgow to Dunblane and only 50% on the Glasgow to Alloa side of SDA.

Seen a 365 heading out of Edinburgh along the ECML today. Is this a unit heading back to England or do the 365’s get stabled at Craigentinny/Millerhill??

509 and 533 are running to Yoker yard tonight for storage until the lease expires in May.
