Let's hope the service settles down again following 37418s misdemeanours and following an ECS (5R18) running up from Canton to Rhymney this afternoon worked by 37418+37025 TNT

37418 with 37025 are currently heading north on
2R24 1746 Cardiff Central to Rhymney.

I was on it that day for the first time. It was full and standing too!

I notice there were security guards on board, I think assisting with door opening. Although one of them told my friend not to open the window.

Ps are those the times leaving Cardiff or at Lisvane please. Which codes are the services that the 37s are running?

2R20 and 2R24.

Your friend should've been allowed to open the window for ventilation purposes

When I was on it, they let someone stand near the window, as long as (of course) they didn't fling themselves out. You might have just got a security guard who'd had a bad day, or they'd had crap off people

Nope. Security guard point blank refused.
Staff on the Mark III Manchester rake are being quite studious in announcing that the windows are not to be opened except to alight at a station (along with instructions on how to do so) after every major station. That's with no security guards on board, though.

I can fully appreciate that nobody wants a repeat of the recent RAIB report.

I've had a discussion with one of them about opening the window. It seems way over the top given that you have the Holyhead loco hauled set departing Cardiff around the same time whizzing along at 90 mph without a security guard in sight. There are plenty of 67 enthusiasts around the country. As predicted, the number of cranks on the Rhymney line is close to zero.

Somewhere between Waverley and Queen Street.

Likewise the Scotrail/DRS 68-hauled Fife Circle sets seem to manage without security guards (or bashers).

Both turns were 4-car Pacer lash-ups this evening. Guess who is in Cardiff :'(

Sorry to hear. Whereabouts in West Yorkshire?
I moved from West Yorkshire two years ago to South Wales, from near Keighley.

Just down the road in Bingley. But as you can guess from my username I originate from further north.

Definitely more rain in South Wales!

Back on topic, if anyone is able to post the gen regarding what works this evening I would be most grateful. Thanks.

I lived in Bingley for a while until 2001. I used to work at Bradford & Bingley, also until 1996 (showing my age!).

37421 is working the 2R20 1701 Cardiff Central to Rhymney tonight.

Thanks for the gen! Was 025 on the back? And what about the 17:46?

BTW, the site of the B&B head office is now a new Lidl supermarket!

37421 was solo, nothing on the back. I don’t have any info on the 1746.

Yes, I expect Bingley Main Street looks completely different now!

Hello all, Is it possible to see the 37s stabled at Canton during the day from a passing train?

I have seen photos people have taken from passing trains in the past. I don’t know if they are always in the same position.

Catch the City Line from Cardiff Central to Ninian Park for best views of that side of the depot by train. Not bad views from a Penath, Barry Island or Bridgend train; only need to go as far as Grangetown.

Are the 37s continuing into 2020 and if so are they likely to make it to the summer?
