It won't have been '64 you saw, it's one of those stored off lease at Worksop at present.Today I travelled in 142060 at 1447 from Middlesborough to Redcar East. Also saw 142064 at MBR on the 1443 to Darlington.
142 030? Stabled opposite platform 1 in Darlington on Sunday... I caught 142xxx to Saltburn that had the bus bench seats in. As I am 6'3" I have to sit sideways... very uncomfortable. On the return Journey from Thornaby at 18:15 it was a 15xxx (I can't remember exactly) .. much more comfortable and nicer ride.
Sorry for the rubbish picture it was the best I could take on my phone without it looking obvious as to what I was upto.
This morning's early riser 142014 with rubbish bus seats ready for 2D81 the 0653 Middlesbrough-Nunthorpe
I feared that too - that Heaton would see withdrawals but the replacements would be worse.Yes, after months (years) of never seeing any bus seated 142s on the Bishop - Saltburn route, they're all i have travelled on the last few weeks. My suspicion is that our "better" upgraded 142s have been moved elsewhere in exchange for all the worn out originals pre wthdrawal weekend. No heating at all on at least one, another has heat but the blowers aren't functioning, last night 032 (i think) had no blowers and only one driver's cab had functioning heating on top of the pax problems.
Thanks for this. Aye - I was on it... Will definitely have been my final journey to Whitby aboard a pacer (after thirty years).I know it's a bit late now but apparently 142091 went to Whitby this morning. As next Saturday is intended to be the last day of 142 operation in the NE and the fact that weekday/Saturday diagrams are booked for 156/8 units. It could be the last time a 142 visits the town.
Do you know if 142084 did indeed work the Whitby train yesterday?Last week of the Pacers in the North East. But a few still around today. Noted were 142030/2/63/7/84 and 91. Number 84 should work the last service from Whitby tonight if it stays on the diagram. Number 32 replaced 158796 at Darlington this morning as it was a failure.
I find it hilarious that you profess to hate pacers, yet spend so much of your time seemingly following their every movement then documenting it on here. The lady doth protest too much, methinks...I feared that too - that Heaton would see withdrawals but the replacements would be worse.
Once they are gone however we can start a campaign to make Northern fix the collapsed seat cushions on the 156s and 158s which will be the next thing I want to complain about.
I had a feeling you might... What kind of trains do you like?I resent that remark! However, 084 on the 1843 Middlesbrough Darlington, proper seats and some heat. "Be grateful for small mercies".

I'll tell you what kind of trains I like. Ones with bogies and some sort of suspension. I like tables and draught screens and stuff that doesn't rattle. Doors that keep the weather out, decent lighting that you can read by, sound absorbing internal surfaces that reduce the assault on the ears. Trains that folk with restricted mobility can use, and with a decent toilet. Maybe a bit of room for bikes and luggage.I had a feeling you might... What kind of trains do you like?
But they aren't PRM compliantTo be fair to pacers, a decent toilet is the one thing they do have.
But they aren't PRM compliant
If you wait a while won't it pass by again ?Anyone know the unit on 09:40 Darlington-Saltburn, heard it pass my house sounded like it’s got a couple of flat wheels.
No, but in the last few years the cubicles have been prone to warping, making it impossible or very difficult to close the door! They're also not locked out of use half the time.
Saw 142088/142093/142096 going through Chesterfield, on their way to the scrapyard hopefully, other than that it's been quiet on the 142 front.
06:01 Doncaster to Scunthorpe was a 144
06:06 Doncaster to Sheffield was a 144
Hope Valley 15:04 into Sheffield was a 156, service arriving into platform 3 (usually forms 15:30 to Hull) was a 158, only the 15:15 Sheffield to Leeds was still double 142's (didn't get the numbers). Got back into Doncaster on the 15:11 TPE from Sheffield, the Northern service leaving for Sheffield as I arrived was a 144, and the 15:02 Sheffield to Adwick was 150101.
Not raising hopes much, a similar thing happened a week or so ago and everything was back to 142's the day after.
