    More gateline woes - Perth

I imagine this is because it's much easier to detect short faring, especially if there is a gate at either end.

Grand Central apply for Newcastle - Brighton direct

Surely this is going to fail the abstraction test. You can already do 75% of it on a single train.

There's a service road next to Weston Road that you can park on. Fills up if you don't get there really early though.

The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

Probably a FIP coupon? I came back a couple of weeks ago from Switzerland and my coupon was only questioned once because for each dated box you get 48 hours. I just pointed to the text on the front which explains it and it was accepted. I also used my FIP card with the half fare discount once...

The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

I went to Swizterland a couple of weeks ago and had my ticket checked on all but the busiest of trains. The SBB double decker each had a team of 3 or 4 people checking tickets. Even the private narrow gauge concerns had plenty of ticket checks, I took a Zentral Bahn train from Luzern to...

Could a low income railcard work ?

The Job centre railcards are extremely rare. Everytime I see it on a ticket I ask and 99.9% of the time it's used by fare evaders, in fact I've seen only one in the past 18 months.

    Euston overcrowding

There's a few trains where they need to be locked up so drivers can do some tests in the cab. Most of them the doors stay open.

    Euston overcrowding

It didn't work very well this morning when the conductor had to kick everyone off the 0848 arrival from Birmingham so he could lock it up. The previous train had been cancelled so there were many people already waiting 25 mins before departure.

Birmingham to Liverpool - Worthy of Intercity Trains?

They are reinstating a half hourly service for most of the day from December. Although they are adding Coseley + Mossley hill into the 'faster' services. No idea why.
